إِنَّاinnā Indeed, Weخَلَقْنَاkhalaqnā [We] createdٱلْإِنسَـٰنَl-insāna manمِنmin fromنُّطْفَةٍnuṭ'fatin a semen-dropأَمْشَاجٍۢamshājin a mixtureنَّبْتَلِيهِnabtalīhi (that) We test himفَجَعَلْنَـٰهُfajaʿalnāhu so We made (for) himسَمِيعًۢاsamīʿan hearingبَصِيرًاbaṣīran and sight٢
إِنَّاinnā Indeed, Weهَدَيْنَـٰهُhadaynāhu guided himٱلسَّبِيلَl-sabīla (to) the wayإِمَّاimmā whetherشَاكِرًۭاshākiran (he) be gratefulوَإِمَّاwa-immā and whetherكَفُورًاkafūran (he) be ungrateful٣
إِنَّآinnā Indeed, Weأَعْتَدْنَاaʿtadnā [We] have preparedلِلْكَـٰفِرِينَlil'kāfirīna for the disbelieversسَلَـٰسِلَا۟salāsilā chainsوَأَغْلَـٰلًۭاwa-aghlālan and shacklesوَسَعِيرًاwasaʿīran and a Blazing Fire٤
إِنَّinna Indeedٱلْأَبْرَارَl-abrāra the righteousيَشْرَبُونَyashrabūna will drinkمِنmin fromكَأْسٍۢkasin a cupكَانَkāna isمِزَاجُهَاmizājuhā its mixtureكَافُورًاkāfūran (of) Kafur٥
عَيْنًۭاʿaynan A spring يَشْرَبُyashrabu will drinkبِهَاbihā from itعِبَادُʿibādu (the) slavesٱللَّهِl-lahi (of) Allahيُفَجِّرُونَهَاyufajjirūnahā causing it to gush forthتَفْجِيرًۭاtafjīran abundantly٦
يُوفُونَyūfūna They fulfillبِٱلنَّذْرِbil-nadhri the vowsوَيَخَافُونَwayakhāfūna and fearيَوْمًۭاyawman a Day كَانَkāna (which) isشَرُّهُۥsharruhu its evilمُسْتَطِيرًۭاmus'taṭīran widespread٧
وَيُطْعِمُونَwayuṭ'ʿimūna And they feedٱلطَّعَامَl-ṭaʿāma the foodعَلَىٰʿalā in spite ofحُبِّهِۦḥubbihi love (for) itمِسْكِينًۭاmis'kīnan (to the) needyوَيَتِيمًۭاwayatīman and (the) orphanوَأَسِيرًاwa-asīran and (the) captive٨
إِنَّمَاinnamā Onlyنُطْعِمُكُمْnuṭ'ʿimukum we feed youلِوَجْهِliwajhi for (the) Countenanceٱللَّهِl-lahi (of) Allahلَاlā Notنُرِيدُnurīdu we desireمِنكُمْminkum from youجَزَآءًۭjazāan any rewardوَلَاwalā and notشُكُورًاshukūran thanks٩
إِنَّاinnā Indeed, weنَخَافُnakhāfu fearمِنmin fromرَّبِّنَاrabbinā our Lordيَوْمًاyawman a Day عَبُوسًۭاʿabūsan harshقَمْطَرِيرًۭاqamṭarīran and distressful١٠
فَوَقَىٰهُمُfawaqāhumu But will protect themٱللَّهُl-lahu Allahشَرَّsharra (from the) evilذَٰلِكَdhālika (of) thatٱلْيَوْمِl-yawmi Dayوَلَقَّىٰهُمْwalaqqāhum and will cause them to meetنَضْرَةًۭnaḍratan radianceوَسُرُورًۭاwasurūran and happiness١١
وَجَزَىٰهُمwajazāhum And will reward themبِمَاbimā becauseصَبَرُوا۟ṣabarū they were patientجَنَّةًۭjannatan (with) a Gardenوَحَرِيرًۭاwaḥarīran and silk١٢
وَدَانِيَةًwadāniyatan And nearعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhim above themظِلَـٰلُهَاẓilāluhā (are) its shadesوَذُلِّلَتْwadhullilat and will hang lowقُطُوفُهَاquṭūfuhā its cluster of fruitsتَذْلِيلًۭاtadhlīlan dangling low١٤
وَيُطَافُwayuṭāfu And will be circulatedعَلَيْهِمʿalayhim among themبِـَٔانِيَةٍۢbiāniyatin vesselsمِّنmin ofفِضَّةٍۢfiḍḍatin silverوَأَكْوَابٍۢwa-akwābin and cupsكَانَتْkānat (that) areقَوَارِيرَا۠qawārīrā (of) crystal١٥
وَيُسْقَوْنَwayus'qawna And they will be given to drinkفِيهَاfīhā thereinكَأْسًۭاkasan a cup كَانَkāna isمِزَاجُهَاmizājuhā its mixtureزَنجَبِيلًاzanjabīlan (of) Zanjabil١٧
۞ وَيَطُوفُwayaṭūfu And will circulateعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhim among themوِلْدَٰنٌۭwil'dānun young boysمُّخَلَّدُونَmukhalladūna made eternalإِذَاidhā Whenرَأَيْتَهُمْra-aytahum you see themحَسِبْتَهُمْḥasib'tahum you would think themلُؤْلُؤًۭاlu'lu-an (to be) pearlsمَّنثُورًۭاmanthūran scattered١٩
وَإِذَاwa-idhā And whenرَأَيْتَra-ayta you lookثَمَّthamma thenرَأَيْتَra-ayta you will seeنَعِيمًۭاnaʿīman blessingsوَمُلْكًۭاwamul'kan and a kingdomكَبِيرًاkabīran great٢٠
عَـٰلِيَهُمْʿāliyahum Upon themثِيَابُthiyābu (will be) garmentsسُندُسٍsundusin (of) fine silkخُضْرٌۭkhuḍ'run greenوَإِسْتَبْرَقٌۭ ۖwa-is'tabraqun and heavy brocadeوَحُلُّوٓا۟waḥullū And they will be adornedأَسَاوِرَasāwira (with) braceletsمِنmin ofفِضَّةٍۢfiḍḍatin silverوَسَقَىٰهُمْwasaqāhum and will give them to drinkرَبُّهُمْrabbuhum their Lordشَرَابًۭاsharāban a drinkطَهُورًاṭahūran pure٢١
إِنَّinna Indeedهَـٰذَاhādhā thisكَانَkāna isلَكُمْlakum for youجَزَآءًۭjazāan a rewardوَكَانَwakāna and has beenسَعْيُكُمsaʿyukum your effortمَّشْكُورًاmashkūran appreciated٢٢
فَٱصْبِرْfa-iṣ'bir So be patientلِحُكْمِliḥuk'mi for (the) Commandرَبِّكَrabbika (of) your Lordوَلَاwalā and (do) notتُطِعْtuṭiʿ obeyمِنْهُمْmin'hum from themءَاثِمًاāthiman any sinnerأَوْaw orكَفُورًۭاkafūran disbeliever٢٤
وَمِنَwamina And ofٱلَّيْلِal-layli the nightفَٱسْجُدْfa-us'jud prostrateلَهُۥlahu to Himوَسَبِّحْهُwasabbiḥ'hu and glorify Himلَيْلًۭاlaylan a nightطَوِيلًاṭawīlan long٢٦
إِنَّinna Indeedهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāi theseيُحِبُّونَyuḥibbūna loveٱلْعَاجِلَةَl-ʿājilata the immediateوَيَذَرُونَwayadharūna and leaveوَرَآءَهُمْwarāahum behind themيَوْمًۭاyawman a Dayثَقِيلًۭاthaqīlan grave٢٧
نَّحْنُnaḥnu Weخَلَقْنَـٰهُمْkhalaqnāhum created themوَشَدَدْنَآwashadadnā and We strengthenedأَسْرَهُمْ ۖasrahum their formsوَإِذَاwa-idhā and whenشِئْنَاshi'nā We willبَدَّلْنَآbaddalnā We can changeأَمْثَـٰلَهُمْamthālahum their likeness[es]تَبْدِيلًاtabdīlan (with) a change٢٨
إِنَّinna Indeedهَـٰذِهِۦhādhihi thisتَذْكِرَةٌۭ ۖtadhkiratun (is) a reminderفَمَنfaman so whoeverشَآءَshāa willsٱتَّخَذَittakhadha let him takeإِلَىٰilā toرَبِّهِۦrabbihi his Lordسَبِيلًۭاsabīlan a way٢٩
يُدْخِلُyud'khilu He admitsمَنman whomيَشَآءُyashāu He willsفِىfī intoرَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚraḥmatihi His mercyوَٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَwal-ẓālimīna but (for) the wrongdoersأَعَدَّaʿadda He has preparedلَهُمْlahum for themعَذَابًاʿadhāban a punishmentأَلِيمًۢاalīman painful٣١
