بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

And the night إِذَاidhā
when يَغْشَىٰهَاyaghshāhā
it covers it ٤
And the night إِذَاidhā
when يَغْشَىٰهَاyaghshāhā
it covers it ٤
وَٱلسَّمَآءِwal-samāi
And the heaven وَمَاwamā
and (He) Who بَنَىٰهَاbanāhā
constructed it ٥
And the heaven وَمَاwamā
and (He) Who بَنَىٰهَاbanāhā
constructed it ٥
وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍi
And the earth وَمَاwamā
and by (He) Who طَحَىٰهَاṭaḥāhā
spread it ٦
And the earth وَمَاwamā
and by (He) Who طَحَىٰهَاṭaḥāhā
spread it ٦
وَنَفْسٍۢwanafsin
And (the) soul وَمَاwamā
and (He) Who سَوَّىٰهَاsawwāhā
proportioned it ٧
And (the) soul وَمَاwamā
and (He) Who سَوَّىٰهَاsawwāhā
proportioned it ٧
فَأَلْهَمَهَاfa-alhamahā
And He inspired it فُجُورَهَاfujūrahā
(to distinguish) its wickedness وَتَقْوَىٰهَاwataqwāhā
and its righteousness ٨
And He inspired it فُجُورَهَاfujūrahā

and its righteousness ٨
قَدْqad
Indeed أَفْلَحَaflaḥa
he succeeds مَنman
who زَكَّىٰهَاzakkāhā
purifies it ٩
Indeed أَفْلَحَaflaḥa
he succeeds مَنman
who زَكَّىٰهَاzakkāhā
purifies it ٩
وَقَدْwaqad
And indeed خَابَkhāba
he fails مَنman
who دَسَّىٰهَاdassāhā
buries it ١٠
And indeed خَابَkhāba
he fails مَنman
who دَسَّىٰهَاdassāhā

كَذَّبَتْkadhabat
Denied ثَمُودُthamūdu
Thamud بِطَغْوَىٰهَآbiṭaghwāhā
by their transgression ١١

إِذِidhi
When ٱنۢبَعَثَinbaʿatha
(was) sent forth أَشْقَىٰهَاashqāhā
(the) most wicked of them ١٢

فَقَالَfaqāla
But said لَهُمْlahum
to them رَسُولُrasūlu
(the) Messenger ٱللَّهِl-lahi
(of) Allah نَاقَةَnāqata
(It is the) she-camel ٱللَّهِl-lahi
(of) Allah وَسُقْيَـٰهَاwasuq'yāhā
and her drink ١٣
But said لَهُمْlahum
to them رَسُولُrasūlu
(the) Messenger ٱللَّهِl-lahi
(of) Allah نَاقَةَnāqata
(It is the) she-camel ٱللَّهِl-lahi
(of) Allah وَسُقْيَـٰهَاwasuq'yāhā
and her drink ١٣
فَكَذَّبُوهُfakadhabūhu
But they denied him فَعَقَرُوهَاfaʿaqarūhā
and they hamstrung her فَدَمْدَمَfadamdama
So destroyed عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhim
them رَبُّهُمrabbuhum
their Lord بِذَنۢبِهِمْbidhanbihim
for their sin فَسَوَّىٰهَاfasawwāhā
and leveled them ١٤
But they denied him فَعَقَرُوهَاfaʿaqarūhā
and they hamstrung her فَدَمْدَمَfadamdama
So destroyed عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhim
them رَبُّهُمrabbuhum
their Lord بِذَنۢبِهِمْbidhanbihim
for their sin فَسَوَّىٰهَاfasawwāhā
and leveled them ١٤
وَلَاwalā
And not يَخَافُyakhāfu
He fears عُقْبَـٰهَاʿuq'bāhā
its consequences ١٥
And not يَخَافُyakhāfu
He fears عُقْبَـٰهَاʿuq'bāhā
