يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhā O Prophetٱلنَّبِىُّl-nabiyu O Prophetٱتَّقِittaqi Fearٱللَّهَl-laha Allahوَلَاwalā and (do) notتُطِعِtuṭiʿi obeyٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīna the disbelieversوَٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ ۗwal-munāfiqīna and the hypocritesإِنَّinna Indeedٱللَّهَl-laha Allahكَانَkāna isعَلِيمًاʿalīman All-Knowerحَكِيمًۭاḥakīman All-Wise١
وَٱتَّبِعْwa-ittabiʿ And followمَاmā whatيُوحَىٰٓyūḥā is inspiredإِلَيْكَilayka to youمِنmin fromرَّبِّكَ ۚrabbika your Lordإِنَّinna Indeedٱللَّهَl-laha Allahكَانَkāna isبِمَاbimā of whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūna you doخَبِيرًۭاkhabīran All-Aware٢
وَتَوَكَّلْwatawakkal And put your trustعَلَىʿalā inٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahi Allahوَكَفَىٰwakafā And Allah is sufficientبِٱللَّهِbil-lahi And Allah is sufficientوَكِيلًۭاwakīlan (as) Disposer of affairs٣
مَّاmā Notجَعَلَjaʿala Allah (has) madeٱللَّهُl-lahu Allah (has) madeلِرَجُلٍۢlirajulin for any manمِّنmin [of]قَلْبَيْنِqalbayni two heartsفِىfī inجَوْفِهِۦ ۚjawfihi his interiorوَمَاwamā And notجَعَلَjaʿala He (has) madeأَزْوَٰجَكُمُazwājakumu your wivesٱلَّـٰٓـِٔىallāī whomتُظَـٰهِرُونَtuẓāhirūna you declare unlawfulمِنْهُنَّmin'hunna [of them]أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمْ ۚummahātikum (as) your mothersوَمَاwamā And notجَعَلَjaʿala He has madeأَدْعِيَآءَكُمْadʿiyāakum your adopted sonsأَبْنَآءَكُمْ ۚabnāakum your sonsذَٰلِكُمْdhālikum Thatقَوْلُكُمqawlukum (is) your sayingبِأَفْوَٰهِكُمْ ۖbi-afwāhikum by your mouthsوَٱللَّهُwal-lahu but Allahيَقُولُyaqūlu saysٱلْحَقَّl-ḥaqa the truthوَهُوَwahuwa and Heيَهْدِىyahdī guidesٱلسَّبِيلَl-sabīla (to) the Way٤
ٱدْعُوهُمْid'ʿūhum Call themلِـَٔابَآئِهِمْliābāihim by their fathersهُوَhuwa itأَقْسَطُaqsaṭu (is) more justعِندَʿinda nearٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahi Allahفَإِنfa-in But ifلَّمْlam notتَعْلَمُوٓا۟taʿlamū you knowءَابَآءَهُمْābāahum their fathers فَإِخْوَٰنُكُمْfa-ikh'wānukum then (they are) your brothersفِىfī inٱلدِّينِl-dīni [the] religionوَمَوَٰلِيكُمْ ۚwamawālīkum and your friendsوَلَيْسَwalaysa But not isعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykum upon youجُنَاحٌۭjunāḥun any blameفِيمَآfīmā in whatأَخْطَأْتُمakhṭatum you made a mistakeبِهِۦbihi in itوَلَـٰكِنwalākin butمَّاmā whatتَعَمَّدَتْtaʿammadat intendedقُلُوبُكُمْ ۚqulūbukum your heartsوَكَانَwakāna And Allahٱللَّهُl-lahu And Allahغَفُورًۭاghafūran (is) Oft-Forgivingرَّحِيمًاraḥīman Most Merciful٥
ٱلنَّبِىُّal-nabiyu The Prophetأَوْلَىٰawlā (is) closerبِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَbil-mu'minīna to the believersمِنْmin thanأَنفُسِهِمْ ۖanfusihim their own selvesوَأَزْوَٰجُهُۥٓwa-azwājuhu and his wivesأُمَّهَـٰتُهُمْ ۗummahātuhum (are) their mothersوَأُو۟لُوا۟wa-ulū And possessorsٱلْأَرْحَامِl-arḥāmi (of) relationshipsبَعْضُهُمْbaʿḍuhum some of themأَوْلَىٰawlā (are) closerبِبَعْضٍۢbibaʿḍin to anotherفِىfī inكِتَـٰبِkitābi (the) Decreeٱللَّهِl-lahi (of) Allahمِنَmina thanٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna the believersوَٱلْمُهَـٰجِرِينَwal-muhājirīna and the emigrantsإِلَّآillā exceptأَنan thatتَفْعَلُوٓا۟tafʿalū you doإِلَىٰٓilā toأَوْلِيَآئِكُمawliyāikum your friendsمَّعْرُوفًۭا ۚmaʿrūfan a kindnessكَانَkāna That isذَٰلِكَdhālika That isفِىfī inٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi the Bookمَسْطُورًۭاmasṭūran written٦
وَإِذْwa-idh And whenأَخَذْنَاakhadhnā We tookمِنَmina fromٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَl-nabiyīna the Prophetsمِيثَـٰقَهُمْmīthāqahum their Covenantوَمِنكَwaminka and from youوَمِنwamin and fromنُّوحٍۢnūḥin Nuhوَإِبْرَٰهِيمَwa-ib'rāhīma and Ibrahimوَمُوسَىٰwamūsā and Musaوَعِيسَىwaʿīsā and Isaٱبْنِib'ni sonمَرْيَمَ ۖmaryama (of) Maryamوَأَخَذْنَاwa-akhadhnā And We tookمِنْهُمmin'hum from themمِّيثَـٰقًاmīthāqan a covenantغَلِيظًۭاghalīẓan strong٧
لِّيَسْـَٔلَliyasala That He may askٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَl-ṣādiqīna the truthfulعَنʿan aboutصِدْقِهِمْ ۚṣid'qihim their truthوَأَعَدَّwa-aʿadda And He has preparedلِلْكَـٰفِرِينَlil'kāfirīna for the disbelieversعَذَابًاʿadhāban a punishmentأَلِيمًۭاalīman painful٨
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhā O youٱلَّذِينَalladhīna whoءَامَنُوا۟āmanū believeٱذْكُرُوا۟udh'kurū Rememberنِعْمَةَniʿ'mata (the) Favorٱللَّهِl-lahi (of) Allahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykum upon youإِذْidh whenجَآءَتْكُمْjāatkum came to youجُنُودٌۭjunūdun (the) hostsفَأَرْسَلْنَاfa-arsalnā and We sentعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhim upon themرِيحًۭاrīḥan a windوَجُنُودًۭاwajunūdan and hostsلَّمْlam notتَرَوْهَا ۚtarawhā you (could) see themوَكَانَwakāna And Allah isٱللَّهُl-lahu And Allah isبِمَاbimā of whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūna you doبَصِيرًاbaṣīran All-Seer٩
إِذْidh Whenجَآءُوكُمjāūkum they came upon youمِّنmin fromفَوْقِكُمْfawqikum above youوَمِنْwamin and fromأَسْفَلَasfala belowمِنكُمْminkum youوَإِذْwa-idh and whenزَاغَتِzāghati grew wildٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُl-abṣāru the eyesوَبَلَغَتِwabalaghati and reachedٱلْقُلُوبُl-qulūbu the heartsٱلْحَنَاجِرَl-ḥanājira the throatsوَتَظُنُّونَwataẓunnūna and you assumedبِٱللَّهِbil-lahi about Allahٱلظُّنُونَا۠l-ẓunūnā the assumptions١٠
هُنَالِكَhunālika There ٱبْتُلِىَub'tuliya were triedٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūna the believersوَزُلْزِلُوا۟wazul'zilū and shakenزِلْزَالًۭاzil'zālan (with a) shakeشَدِيدًۭاshadīdan severe١١
وَإِذْwa-idh And whenيَقُولُyaqūlu saidٱلْمُنَـٰفِقُونَl-munāfiqūna the hypocritesوَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīna and thoseفِىfī inقُلُوبِهِمqulūbihim their heartsمَّرَضٌۭmaraḍun (was) a diseaseمَّاmā Notوَعَدَنَاwaʿadanā Allah promised usٱللَّهُl-lahu Allah promised usوَرَسُولُهُۥٓwarasūluhu and His messengerإِلَّاillā exceptغُرُورًۭاghurūran delusion١٢
وَإِذْwa-idh And whenقَالَتqālat saidطَّآئِفَةٌۭṭāifatun a partyمِّنْهُمْmin'hum of themيَـٰٓأَهْلَyāahla O Peopleيَثْرِبَyathriba (of) Yathribلَاlā Noمُقَامَmuqāma standلَكُمْlakum for youفَٱرْجِعُوا۟ ۚfa-ir'jiʿū so returnوَيَسْتَـْٔذِنُwayastadhinu And asked permissionفَرِيقٌۭfarīqun a groupمِّنْهُمُmin'humu of themٱلنَّبِىَّl-nabiya (from) the Prophetيَقُولُونَyaqūlūna sayingإِنَّinna Indeedبُيُوتَنَاbuyūtanā our housesعَوْرَةٌۭʿawratun (are) exposedوَمَاwamā and notهِىَhiya theyبِعَوْرَةٍ ۖbiʿawratin (were) exposedإِنin Notيُرِيدُونَyurīdūna they wishedإِلَّاillā butفِرَارًۭاfirāran to flee١٣
وَلَوْwalaw And ifدُخِلَتْdukhilat had been enteredعَلَيْهِمʿalayhim upon themمِّنْmin fromأَقْطَارِهَاaqṭārihā all its sidesثُمَّthumma thenسُئِلُوا۟su-ilū they had been askedٱلْفِتْنَةَl-fit'nata the treacheryلَـَٔاتَوْهَاlaātawhā they (would) have certainly done itوَمَاwamā and notتَلَبَّثُوا۟talabbathū they (would) have hesitatedبِهَآbihā over itإِلَّاillā exceptيَسِيرًۭاyasīran a little١٤
وَلَقَدْwalaqad And certainlyكَانُوا۟kānū they hadعَـٰهَدُوا۟ʿāhadū promisedٱللَّهَl-laha Allahمِنmin beforeقَبْلُqablu beforeلَاlā notيُوَلُّونَyuwallūna they would turnٱلْأَدْبَـٰرَ ۚl-adbāra their backsوَكَانَwakāna And isعَهْدُʿahdu (the) promiseٱللَّهِl-lahi (to) Allahمَسْـُٔولًۭاmasūlan to be questioned١٥
قُلqul Sayلَّنlan Neverيَنفَعَكُمُyanfaʿakumu will benefit youٱلْفِرَارُl-firāru the fleeingإِنin ifفَرَرْتُمfarartum you fleeمِّنَmina fromٱلْمَوْتِl-mawti deathأَوِawi orٱلْقَتْلِl-qatli killingوَإِذًۭاwa-idhan and thenلَّاlā notتُمَتَّعُونَtumattaʿūna you will be allowed to enjoyإِلَّاillā exceptقَلِيلًۭاqalīlan a little١٦
قُلْqul Sayمَنman Whoذَاdhā (is) it thatٱلَّذِىalladhī (is) it thatيَعْصِمُكُمyaʿṣimukum (can) protect youمِّنَmina fromٱللَّهِl-lahi Allahإِنْin Ifأَرَادَarāda He intendsبِكُمْbikum for youسُوٓءًاsūan any harmأَوْaw orأَرَادَarāda He intendsبِكُمْbikum for youرَحْمَةًۭ ۚraḥmatan a mercyوَلَاwalā And notيَجِدُونَyajidūna they will findلَهُمlahum for themمِّنmin besidesدُونِdūni besidesٱللَّهِl-lahi Allahوَلِيًّۭاwaliyyan any protectorوَلَاwalā and notنَصِيرًۭاnaṣīran any helper١٧
۞ قَدْqad Verilyيَعْلَمُyaʿlamu Allah knowsٱللَّهُl-lahu Allah knowsٱلْمُعَوِّقِينَl-muʿawiqīna those who hinderمِنكُمْminkum among youوَٱلْقَآئِلِينَwal-qāilīna and those who sayلِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْli-ikh'wānihim to their brothersهَلُمَّhalumma Comeإِلَيْنَا ۖilaynā to usوَلَاwalā and notيَأْتُونَyatūna they comeٱلْبَأْسَl-basa (to) the battleإِلَّاillā exceptقَلِيلًاqalīlan a few١٨
أَشِحَّةًashiḥḥatan Miserlyعَلَيْكُمْ ۖʿalaykum towards youفَإِذَاfa-idhā But whenجَآءَjāa comesٱلْخَوْفُl-khawfu the fearرَأَيْتَهُمْra-aytahum you see themيَنظُرُونَyanẓurūna lookingإِلَيْكَilayka at youتَدُورُtadūru revolvingأَعْيُنُهُمْaʿyunuhum their eyesكَٱلَّذِىka-alladhī like one whoيُغْشَىٰyugh'shā faintsعَلَيْهِʿalayhi faintsمِنَmina fromٱلْمَوْتِ ۖl-mawti [the] deathفَإِذَاfa-idhā But whenذَهَبَdhahaba departsٱلْخَوْفُl-khawfu the fearسَلَقُوكُمsalaqūkum they smite youبِأَلْسِنَةٍbi-alsinatin with tonguesحِدَادٍḥidādin sharpأَشِحَّةًashiḥḥatan miserlyعَلَىʿalā towardsٱلْخَيْرِ ۚl-khayri the goodأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāika Those لَمْlam notيُؤْمِنُوا۟yu'minū they have believedفَأَحْبَطَfa-aḥbaṭa so Allah made worthlessٱللَّهُl-lahu so Allah made worthlessأَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ ۚaʿmālahum their deedsوَكَانَwakāna And isذَٰلِكَdhālika thatعَلَىʿalā forٱللَّهِl-lahi Allahيَسِيرًۭاyasīran easy١٩
يَحْسَبُونَyaḥsabūna They thinkٱلْأَحْزَابَl-aḥzāba the confederatesلَمْlam (have) notيَذْهَبُوا۟ ۖyadhhabū withdrawnوَإِنwa-in And ifيَأْتِyati (should) comeٱلْأَحْزَابُl-aḥzābu the confederatesيَوَدُّوا۟yawaddū they would wishلَوْlaw ifأَنَّهُمannahum that they (were)بَادُونَbādūna living in (the) desertفِىfī amongٱلْأَعْرَابِl-aʿrābi the Bedouinsيَسْـَٔلُونَyasalūna askingعَنْʿan aboutأَنۢبَآئِكُمْ ۖanbāikum your newsوَلَوْwalaw And ifكَانُوا۟kānū they wereفِيكُمfīkum among youمَّاmā notقَـٰتَلُوٓا۟qātalū they would fightإِلَّاillā exceptقَلِيلًۭاqalīlan a little٢٠
لَّقَدْlaqad Certainlyكَانَkāna isلَكُمْlakum for youفِىfī inرَسُولِrasūli (the) Messengerٱللَّهِl-lahi (of) Allahأُسْوَةٌus'watun an excellent exampleحَسَنَةٌۭḥasanatun an excellent exampleلِّمَنliman for (one) whoكَانَkāna hasيَرْجُوا۟yarjū hopeٱللَّهَl-laha (in) Allahوَٱلْيَوْمَwal-yawma and the Dayٱلْـَٔاخِرَl-ākhira the Lastوَذَكَرَwadhakara and remembersٱللَّهَl-laha Allahكَثِيرًۭاkathīran much٢١
وَلَمَّاwalammā And whenرَءَاraā sawٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūna the believersٱلْأَحْزَابَl-aḥzāba the confederatesقَالُوا۟qālū they saidهَـٰذَاhādhā Thisمَاmā (is) whatوَعَدَنَاwaʿadanā Allah promised usٱللَّهُl-lahu Allah promised usوَرَسُولُهُۥwarasūluhu and His Messengerوَصَدَقَwaṣadaqa and Allah spoke the truthٱللَّهُl-lahu and Allah spoke the truthوَرَسُولُهُۥ ۚwarasūluhu and His Messengerوَمَاwamā And notزَادَهُمْzādahum it increased themإِلَّآillā exceptإِيمَـٰنًۭاīmānan (in) faithوَتَسْلِيمًۭاwataslīman and submission٢٢
مِّنَmina Amongٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna the believersرِجَالٌۭrijālun (are) menصَدَقُوا۟ṣadaqū (who) have been trueمَاmā (to) whatعَـٰهَدُوا۟ʿāhadū they promised Allahٱللَّهَl-laha they promised Allahعَلَيْهِ ۖʿalayhi [on it]فَمِنْهُمfamin'hum And among themمَّنman (is he) whoقَضَىٰqaḍā has fulfilledنَحْبَهُۥnaḥbahu his vowوَمِنْهُمwamin'hum and among themمَّنman (is he) whoيَنتَظِرُ ۖyantaẓiru awaitsوَمَاwamā And notبَدَّلُوا۟baddalū they alterتَبْدِيلًۭاtabdīlan (by) any alteration ٢٣
لِّيَجْزِىَliyajziya That Allah may rewardٱللَّهُl-lahu That Allah may rewardٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَl-ṣādiqīna the truthfulبِصِدْقِهِمْbiṣid'qihim for their truthوَيُعَذِّبَwayuʿadhiba and punishٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَl-munāfiqīna the hypocritesإِنin ifشَآءَshāa He willsأَوْaw orيَتُوبَyatūba turn in mercyعَلَيْهِمْ ۚʿalayhim to themإِنَّinna Indeedٱللَّهَl-laha Allahكَانَkāna isغَفُورًۭاghafūran Oft-Forgivingرَّحِيمًۭاraḥīman Most Merciful٢٤
وَرَدَّwaradda And Allah turned backٱللَّهُl-lahu And Allah turned backٱلَّذِينَalladhīna those whoكَفَرُوا۟kafarū disbelievedبِغَيْظِهِمْbighayẓihim in their rageلَمْlam notيَنَالُوا۟yanālū they obtainedخَيْرًۭا ۚkhayran any goodوَكَفَىwakafā And sufficient isٱللَّهُl-lahu Allahٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna (for) the believersٱلْقِتَالَ ۚl-qitāla (in) the battleوَكَانَwakāna and Allah isٱللَّهُl-lahu and Allah isقَوِيًّاqawiyyan All-Strongعَزِيزًۭاʿazīzan All-Mighty٢٥
وَأَنزَلَwa-anzala And He brought downٱلَّذِينَalladhīna those whoظَـٰهَرُوهُمẓāharūhum backed themمِّنْmin amongأَهْلِahli (the) Peopleٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi (of) the Scriptureمِنmin fromصَيَاصِيهِمْṣayāṣīhim their fortressesوَقَذَفَwaqadhafa and castفِىfī intoقُلُوبِهِمُqulūbihimu their heartsٱلرُّعْبَl-ruʿ'ba [the] terrorفَرِيقًۭاfarīqan a groupتَقْتُلُونَtaqtulūna you killedوَتَأْسِرُونَwatasirūna and you took captiveفَرِيقًۭاfarīqan a group٢٦
وَأَوْرَثَكُمْwa-awrathakum And He caused you to inheritأَرْضَهُمْarḍahum their landوَدِيَـٰرَهُمْwadiyārahum and their housesوَأَمْوَٰلَهُمْwa-amwālahum and their propertiesوَأَرْضًۭاwa-arḍan and a landلَّمْlam notتَطَـُٔوهَا ۚtaṭaūhā you (had) troddenوَكَانَwakāna And Allah isٱللَّهُl-lahu And Allah isعَلَىٰʿalā onكُلِّkulli everyشَىْءٍۢshayin thingقَدِيرًۭاqadīran All-Powerful٢٧
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhā O Prophetٱلنَّبِىُّl-nabiyu O Prophetقُلqul Sayلِّأَزْوَٰجِكَli-azwājika to your wivesإِنin Ifكُنتُنَّkuntunna youتُرِدْنَturid'na desireٱلْحَيَوٰةَl-ḥayata the lifeٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā (of) the worldوَزِينَتَهَاwazīnatahā and its adornmentفَتَعَالَيْنَfataʿālayna then comeأُمَتِّعْكُنَّumattiʿ'kunna I will provide for youوَأُسَرِّحْكُنَّwa-usarriḥ'kunna and release youسَرَاحًۭاsarāḥan (with) a releaseجَمِيلًۭاjamīlan good٢٨
وَإِنwa-in But ifكُنتُنَّkuntunna youتُرِدْنَturid'na desireٱللَّهَl-laha Allahوَرَسُولَهُۥwarasūlahu and His Messengerوَٱلدَّارَwal-dāra and the Homeٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَl-ākhirata (of) the Hereafterفَإِنَّfa-inna then indeedٱللَّهَl-laha Allahأَعَدَّaʿadda has preparedلِلْمُحْسِنَـٰتِlil'muḥ'sināti for the good-doersمِنكُنَّminkunna among youأَجْرًاajran a rewardعَظِيمًۭاʿaẓīman great٢٩
يَـٰنِسَآءَyānisāa O wivesٱلنَّبِىِّl-nabiyi (of) the Prophetمَنman Whoeverيَأْتِyati commitsمِنكُنَّminkunna from youبِفَـٰحِشَةٍۢbifāḥishatin immoralityمُّبَيِّنَةٍۢmubayyinatin clearيُضَـٰعَفْyuḍāʿaf will be doubledلَهَاlahā for herٱلْعَذَابُl-ʿadhābu the punishmentضِعْفَيْنِ ۚḍiʿ'fayni two foldوَكَانَwakāna And that isذَٰلِكَdhālika And that isعَلَىʿalā forٱللَّهِl-lahi Allahيَسِيرًۭاyasīran easy٣٠
۞ وَمَنwaman And whoeverيَقْنُتْyaqnut is obedientمِنكُنَّminkunna among youلِلَّهِlillahi to Allahوَرَسُولِهِۦwarasūlihi and His Messengerوَتَعْمَلْwataʿmal and doesصَـٰلِحًۭاṣāliḥan righteousnessنُّؤْتِهَآnu'tihā We will give herأَجْرَهَاajrahā her rewardمَرَّتَيْنِmarratayni twiceوَأَعْتَدْنَاwa-aʿtadnā and We have preparedلَهَاlahā for herرِزْقًۭاriz'qan a provisionكَرِيمًۭاkarīman noble٣١
يَـٰنِسَآءَyānisāa O wivesٱلنَّبِىِّl-nabiyi (of) the Prophetلَسْتُنَّlastunna You are notكَأَحَدٍۢka-aḥadin like anyoneمِّنَmina amongٱلنِّسَآءِ ۚl-nisāi the womenإِنِini Ifٱتَّقَيْتُنَّittaqaytunna you fear (Allah)فَلَاfalā then (do) notتَخْضَعْنَtakhḍaʿna be softبِٱلْقَوْلِbil-qawli in speechفَيَطْمَعَfayaṭmaʿa lest should be moved with desireٱلَّذِىalladhī he whoفِىfī inقَلْبِهِۦqalbihi his heartمَرَضٌۭmaraḍun (is) a diseaseوَقُلْنَwaqul'na but sayقَوْلًۭاqawlan a wordمَّعْرُوفًۭاmaʿrūfan appropriate٣٢
وَقَرْنَwaqarna And stayفِىfī inبُيُوتِكُنَّbuyūtikunna your housesوَلَاwalā and (do) notتَبَرَّجْنَtabarrajna display yourselvesتَبَرُّجَtabarruja (as was the) displayٱلْجَـٰهِلِيَّةِl-jāhiliyati (of the times of) ignoranceٱلْأُولَىٰ ۖl-ūlā the formerوَأَقِمْنَwa-aqim'na And establishٱلصَّلَوٰةَl-ṣalata the prayerوَءَاتِينَwaātīna and giveٱلزَّكَوٰةَl-zakata zakahوَأَطِعْنَwa-aṭiʿ'na and obeyٱللَّهَl-laha Allahوَرَسُولَهُۥٓ ۚwarasūlahu and His Messengerإِنَّمَاinnamā Onlyيُرِيدُyurīdu Allah wishesٱللَّهُl-lahu Allah wishesلِيُذْهِبَliyudh'hiba to removeعَنكُمُʿankumu from youٱلرِّجْسَl-rij'sa the impurityأَهْلَahla (O) Peopleٱلْبَيْتِl-bayti (of) the Houseوَيُطَهِّرَكُمْwayuṭahhirakum And to purify youتَطْهِيرًۭاtaṭhīran (with thorough) purification٣٣
وَٱذْكُرْنَwa-udh'kur'na And rememberمَاmā whatيُتْلَىٰyut'lā is recitedفِىfī inبُيُوتِكُنَّbuyūtikunna your housesمِنْmin ofءَايَـٰتِāyāti (the) Versesٱللَّهِl-lahi (of) Allahوَٱلْحِكْمَةِ ۚwal-ḥik'mati and the wisdomإِنَّinna Indeedٱللَّهَl-laha Allahكَانَkāna isلَطِيفًاlaṭīfan All-Subtleخَبِيرًاkhabīran All-Aware٣٤
إِنَّinna Indeedٱلْمُسْلِمِينَl-mus'limīna the Muslim menوَٱلْمُسْلِمَـٰتِwal-mus'limāti and the Muslim womenوَٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَwal-mu'minīna and the believing menوَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِwal-mu'mināti and the believing womenوَٱلْقَـٰنِتِينَwal-qānitīna and the obedient menوَٱلْقَـٰنِتَـٰتِwal-qānitāti and the obedient womenوَٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَwal-ṣādiqīna and the truthful menوَٱلصَّـٰدِقَـٰتِwal-ṣādiqāti and the truthful womenوَٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَwal-ṣābirīna and the patient menوَٱلصَّـٰبِرَٰتِwal-ṣābirāti and the patient womenوَٱلْخَـٰشِعِينَwal-khāshiʿīna and the humble menوَٱلْخَـٰشِعَـٰتِwal-khāshiʿāti and the humble womenوَٱلْمُتَصَدِّقِينَwal-mutaṣadiqīna and the men who give charityوَٱلْمُتَصَدِّقَـٰتِwal-mutaṣadiqāti and the women who give charityوَٱلصَّـٰٓئِمِينَwal-ṣāimīna and the men who fastوَٱلصَّـٰٓئِمَـٰتِwal-ṣāimāti and the women who fastوَٱلْحَـٰفِظِينَwal-ḥāfiẓīna and the men who guardفُرُوجَهُمْfurūjahum their chastityوَٱلْحَـٰفِظَـٰتِwal-ḥāfiẓāti and the women who guard (it)وَٱلذَّٰكِرِينَwal-dhākirīna and the men who rememberٱللَّهَl-laha Allahكَثِيرًۭاkathīran muchوَٱلذَّٰكِرَٰتِwal-dhākirāti and the women who rememberأَعَدَّaʿadda Allah has preparedٱللَّهُl-lahu Allah has preparedلَهُمlahum for themمَّغْفِرَةًۭmaghfiratan forgivenessوَأَجْرًاwa-ajran and a rewardعَظِيمًۭاʿaẓīman great٣٥
وَمَاwamā And notكَانَkāna (it) isلِمُؤْمِنٍۢlimu'minin for a believing manوَلَاwalā and notمُؤْمِنَةٍmu'minatin (for) a believing womanإِذَاidhā whenقَضَىqaḍā Allah has decidedٱللَّهُl-lahu Allah has decidedوَرَسُولُهُۥٓwarasūluhu and His Messengerأَمْرًاamran a matterأَنan thatيَكُونَyakūna (there) should beلَهُمُlahumu for themٱلْخِيَرَةُl-khiyaratu (any) choiceمِنْmin aboutأَمْرِهِمْ ۗamrihim their affairوَمَنwaman And whoeverيَعْصِyaʿṣi disobeysٱللَّهَl-laha Allahوَرَسُولَهُۥwarasūlahu and His Messengerفَقَدْfaqad certainlyضَلَّḍalla he (has) strayedضَلَـٰلًۭاḍalālan (into) errorمُّبِينًۭاmubīnan clear٣٦
وَإِذْwa-idh And whenتَقُولُtaqūlu you saidلِلَّذِىٓlilladhī to the oneأَنْعَمَanʿama Allah bestowed favorٱللَّهُl-lahu Allah bestowed favorعَلَيْهِʿalayhi on himوَأَنْعَمْتَwa-anʿamta and you bestowed favorعَلَيْهِʿalayhi on himأَمْسِكْamsik Keepعَلَيْكَʿalayka to yourselfزَوْجَكَzawjaka your wifeوَٱتَّقِwa-ittaqi and fearٱللَّهَl-laha Allahوَتُخْفِىwatukh'fī But you concealedفِىfī withinنَفْسِكَnafsika yourselfمَاmā whatٱللَّهُl-lahu Allahمُبْدِيهِmub'dīhi (was to) discloseوَتَخْشَىwatakhshā And you fearٱلنَّاسَl-nāsa the peopleوَٱللَّهُwal-lahu while Allahأَحَقُّaḥaqqu has more rightأَنan thatتَخْشَىٰهُ ۖtakhshāhu you (should) fear Himفَلَمَّاfalammā So whenقَضَىٰqaḍā endedزَيْدٌۭzaydun Zaidمِّنْهَاmin'hā from herوَطَرًۭاwaṭaran necessary (formalities)زَوَّجْنَـٰكَهَاzawwajnākahā We married her to youلِكَىْlikay so thatلَاlā notيَكُونَyakūna there beعَلَىʿalā onٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna the believersحَرَجٌۭḥarajun any discomfortفِىٓfī concerningأَزْوَٰجِazwāji the wivesأَدْعِيَآئِهِمْadʿiyāihim (of) their adopted sonsإِذَاidhā whenقَضَوْا۟qaḍaw they have endedمِنْهُنَّmin'hunna from themوَطَرًۭا ۚwaṭaran necessary (formalities)وَكَانَwakāna And isأَمْرُamru (the) Commandٱللَّهِl-lahi (of) Allahمَفْعُولًۭاmafʿūlan accomplished٣٧
مَّاmā Notكَانَkāna (there can) beعَلَىʿalā uponٱلنَّبِىِّl-nabiyi the Prophetمِنْmin anyحَرَجٍۢḥarajin discomfortفِيمَاfīmā in whatفَرَضَfaraḍa Allah has imposedٱللَّهُl-lahu Allah has imposedلَهُۥ ۖlahu on himسُنَّةَsunnata (That is the) Wayٱللَّهِl-lahi (of) Allahفِىfī concerningٱلَّذِينَalladhīna those whoخَلَوْا۟khalaw passed awayمِنmin beforeقَبْلُ ۚqablu beforeوَكَانَwakāna And isأَمْرُamru (the) Commandٱللَّهِl-lahi (of) Allahقَدَرًۭاqadaran a decreeمَّقْدُورًاmaqdūran destined٣٨
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna Those whoيُبَلِّغُونَyuballighūna conveyرِسَـٰلَـٰتِrisālāti (the) Messagesٱللَّهِl-lahi (of) Allahوَيَخْشَوْنَهُۥwayakhshawnahu and fear Himوَلَاwalā and (do) notيَخْشَوْنَyakhshawna fearأَحَدًاaḥadan anyoneإِلَّاillā exceptٱللَّهَ ۗl-laha Allahوَكَفَىٰwakafā And sufficient is Allahبِٱللَّهِbil-lahi And sufficient is Allahحَسِيبًۭاḥasīban (as) a Reckoner٣٩
مَّاmā Notكَانَkāna isمُحَمَّدٌmuḥammadun Muhammadأَبَآabā (the) fatherأَحَدٍۢaḥadin (of) anyoneمِّنmin ofرِّجَالِكُمْrijālikum your menوَلَـٰكِنwalākin butرَّسُولَrasūla (he is the) Messengerٱللَّهِl-lahi (of) Allahوَخَاتَمَwakhātama and Sealٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ ۗl-nabiyīna (of) the Prophetsوَكَانَwakāna And Allah isٱللَّهُl-lahu And Allah isبِكُلِّbikulli of everyشَىْءٍshayin thingعَلِيمًۭاʿalīman All-Knower٤٠
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhā O you who believeٱلَّذِينَalladhīna O you who believeءَامَنُوا۟āmanū O you who believeٱذْكُرُوا۟udh'kurū Rememberٱللَّهَl-laha Allahذِكْرًۭاdhik'ran (with) remembranceكَثِيرًۭاkathīran much٤١
هُوَhuwa Heٱلَّذِىalladhī (is) the One Whoيُصَلِّىyuṣallī sends His blessingsعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykum upon youوَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتُهُۥwamalāikatuhu and His Angelsلِيُخْرِجَكُمliyukh'rijakum so that He may bring you outمِّنَmina fromٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِl-ẓulumāti the darkness[es]إِلَىilā toٱلنُّورِ ۚl-nūri the lightوَكَانَwakāna And He isبِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَbil-mu'minīna to the believersرَحِيمًۭاraḥīman Merciful٤٣
تَحِيَّتُهُمْtaḥiyyatuhum Their greetingsيَوْمَyawma (on the) Dayيَلْقَوْنَهُۥyalqawnahu they will meet Himسَلَـٰمٌۭ ۚsalāmun (will be), "Peaceوَأَعَدَّwa-aʿadda and He has preparedلَهُمْlahum for themأَجْرًۭاajran a rewardكَرِيمًۭاkarīman noble٤٤
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhā O Prophetٱلنَّبِىُّl-nabiyu O Prophetإِنَّآinnā Indeed, Weأَرْسَلْنَـٰكَarsalnāka have sent youشَـٰهِدًۭاshāhidan (as) a witnessوَمُبَشِّرًۭاwamubashiran and a bearer of glad tidingsوَنَذِيرًۭاwanadhīran and (as) a warner٤٥
وَدَاعِيًاwadāʿiyan And as one who invitesإِلَىilā toٱللَّهِl-lahi Allahبِإِذْنِهِۦbi-idh'nihi by His permissionوَسِرَاجًۭاwasirājan and (as) a lampمُّنِيرًۭاmunīran illuminating٤٦
وَبَشِّرِwabashiri And give glad tidingsٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna (to) the believersبِأَنَّbi-anna thatلَهُمlahum for themمِّنَmina (is) fromٱللَّهِl-lahi Allahفَضْلًۭاfaḍlan a Bountyكَبِيرًۭاkabīran great٤٧
وَلَاwalā And (do) notتُطِعِtuṭiʿi obeyٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīna the disbelieversوَٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَwal-munāfiqīna and the hypocritesوَدَعْwadaʿ and disregardأَذَىٰهُمْadhāhum their harmوَتَوَكَّلْwatawakkal and put your trustعَلَىʿalā inٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahi Allahوَكَفَىٰwakafā And sufficient is Allahبِٱللَّهِbil-lahi And sufficient is Allahوَكِيلًۭاwakīlan (as) a Trustee٤٨
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhā O you who believeٱلَّذِينَalladhīna O you who believeءَامَنُوٓا۟āmanū O you who believeإِذَاidhā Whenنَكَحْتُمُnakaḥtumu you marryٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِl-mu'mināti believing womenثُمَّthumma and thenطَلَّقْتُمُوهُنَّṭallaqtumūhunna divorce themمِنmin beforeقَبْلِqabli beforeأَنan [that]تَمَسُّوهُنَّtamassūhunna you have touched themفَمَاfamā then notلَكُمْlakum for youعَلَيْهِنَّʿalayhinna on themمِنْmin anyعِدَّةٍۢʿiddatin waiting periodتَعْتَدُّونَهَا ۖtaʿtaddūnahā (to) count concerning themفَمَتِّعُوهُنَّfamattiʿūhunna So provide for themوَسَرِّحُوهُنَّwasarriḥūhunna and release themسَرَاحًۭاsarāḥan (with) a releaseجَمِيلًۭاjamīlan good٤٩
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhā O Prophetٱلنَّبِىُّl-nabiyu O Prophetإِنَّآinnā Indeed, Weأَحْلَلْنَاaḥlalnā [We] have made lawfulلَكَlaka to youأَزْوَٰجَكَazwājaka your wivesٱلَّـٰتِىٓallātī (to) whomءَاتَيْتَātayta you have givenأُجُورَهُنَّujūrahunna their bridal moneyوَمَاwamā and whomمَلَكَتْmalakat you rightfully possessيَمِينُكَyamīnuka you rightfully possessمِمَّآmimmā from those (whom)أَفَآءَafāa Allah has givenٱللَّهُl-lahu Allah has givenعَلَيْكَʿalayka to youوَبَنَاتِwabanāti and (the) daughtersعَمِّكَʿammika (of) your paternal unclesوَبَنَاتِwabanāti and (the) daughtersعَمَّـٰتِكَʿammātika (of) your paternal auntsوَبَنَاتِwabanāti and (the) daughtersخَالِكَkhālika (of) your maternal unclesوَبَنَاتِwabanāti and (the) daughtersخَـٰلَـٰتِكَkhālātika (of) your maternal auntsٱلَّـٰتِىallātī whoهَاجَرْنَhājarna emigratedمَعَكَmaʿaka with youوَٱمْرَأَةًۭwa-im'ra-atan and a womanمُّؤْمِنَةًmu'minatan believingإِنin ifوَهَبَتْwahabat she givesنَفْسَهَاnafsahā herselfلِلنَّبِىِّlilnnabiyyi to the Prophetإِنْin ifأَرَادَarāda wishesٱلنَّبِىُّl-nabiyu the Prophetأَنan toيَسْتَنكِحَهَاyastankiḥahā marry her خَالِصَةًۭkhāliṣatan onlyلَّكَlaka for youمِنmin excludingدُونِdūni excludingٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۗl-mu'minīna the believersقَدْqad Certainlyعَلِمْنَاʿalim'nā We knowمَاmā whatفَرَضْنَاfaraḍnā We have made obligatoryعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhim upon themفِىٓfī concerningأَزْوَٰجِهِمْazwājihim their wivesوَمَاwamā and whomمَلَكَتْmalakat they rightfully possessأَيْمَـٰنُهُمْaymānuhum they rightfully possessلِكَيْلَاlikaylā that notيَكُونَyakūna should beعَلَيْكَʿalayka on youحَرَجٌۭ ۗḥarajun any discomfortوَكَانَwakāna And Allah isٱللَّهُl-lahu And Allah isغَفُورًۭاghafūran Oft-Forgivingرَّحِيمًۭاraḥīman Most Merciful٥٠
۞ تُرْجِىtur'jī You may deferمَنman whomتَشَآءُtashāu you willمِنْهُنَّmin'hunna of themوَتُـْٔوِىٓwatu'wī or you may takeإِلَيْكَilayka to yourselfمَنman whomتَشَآءُ ۖtashāu you willوَمَنِwamani And whoeverٱبْتَغَيْتَib'taghayta you desireمِمَّنْmimman of those whomعَزَلْتَʿazalta you (had) set aside فَلَاfalā then (there is) noجُنَاحَjunāḥa blameعَلَيْكَ ۚʿalayka upon youذَٰلِكَdhālika Thatأَدْنَىٰٓadnā (is) more suitableأَنan thatتَقَرَّtaqarra may be cooledأَعْيُنُهُنَّaʿyunuhunna their eyesوَلَاwalā and notيَحْزَنَّyaḥzanna they grieveوَيَرْضَيْنَwayarḍayna and they may be pleasedبِمَآbimā with whatءَاتَيْتَهُنَّātaytahunna you have given them كُلُّهُنَّ ۚkulluhunna all of themوَٱللَّهُwal-lahu And Allahيَعْلَمُyaʿlamu knowsمَاmā whatفِىfī (is) inقُلُوبِكُمْ ۚqulūbikum your heartsوَكَانَwakāna And Allah isٱللَّهُl-lahu And Allah isعَلِيمًاʿalīman All-Knowerحَلِيمًۭاḥalīman Most Forbearing٥١
لَّاlā (It is) notيَحِلُّyaḥillu lawfulلَكَlaka for youٱلنِّسَآءُl-nisāu (to marry) womenمِنۢmin after (this)بَعْدُbaʿdu after (this)وَلَآwalā and notأَنan toتَبَدَّلَtabaddala exchangeبِهِنَّbihinna themمِنْmin forأَزْوَٰجٍۢazwājin (other) wivesوَلَوْwalaw even ifأَعْجَبَكَaʿjabaka pleases youحُسْنُهُنَّḥus'nuhunna their beautyإِلَّاillā exceptمَاmā whomمَلَكَتْmalakat you rightfully possessيَمِينُكَ ۗyamīnuka you rightfully possessوَكَانَwakāna And Allah isٱللَّهُl-lahu And Allah isعَلَىٰʿalā overكُلِّkulli allشَىْءٍۢshayin thingsرَّقِيبًۭاraqīban an Observer٥٢
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhā O you who believeٱلَّذِينَalladhīna O you who believeءَامَنُوا۟āmanū O you who believeلَاlā (Do) notتَدْخُلُوا۟tadkhulū enterبُيُوتَbuyūta (the) housesٱلنَّبِىِّl-nabiyi (of) the Prophetإِلَّآillā exceptأَنan whenيُؤْذَنَyu'dhana permission is givenلَكُمْlakum to youإِلَىٰilā forطَعَامٍṭaʿāmin a mealغَيْرَghayra withoutنَـٰظِرِينَnāẓirīna awaitingإِنَىٰهُināhu its preparationوَلَـٰكِنْwalākin Butإِذَاidhā whenدُعِيتُمْduʿītum you are invitedفَٱدْخُلُوا۟fa-ud'khulū then enterفَإِذَاfa-idhā and whenطَعِمْتُمْṭaʿim'tum you have eatenفَٱنتَشِرُوا۟fa-intashirū then disperseوَلَاwalā and notمُسْتَـْٔنِسِينَmus'tanisīna seeking to remainلِحَدِيثٍ ۚliḥadīthin for a conversationإِنَّinna Indeedذَٰلِكُمْdhālikum thatكَانَkāna wasيُؤْذِىyu'dhī troublingٱلنَّبِىَّl-nabiya the Prophetفَيَسْتَحْىِۦfayastaḥyī and he is shyمِنكُمْ ۖminkum of (dismissing) youوَٱللَّهُwal-lahu But Allahلَاlā is not shyيَسْتَحْىِۦyastaḥyī is not shyمِنَmina ofٱلْحَقِّ ۚl-ḥaqi the truthوَإِذَاwa-idhā And whenسَأَلْتُمُوهُنَّsa-altumūhunna you ask themمَتَـٰعًۭاmatāʿan (for) anythingفَسْـَٔلُوهُنَّfasalūhunna then ask themمِنmin fromوَرَآءِwarāi behindحِجَابٍۢ ۚḥijābin a screenذَٰلِكُمْdhālikum Thatأَطْهَرُaṭharu (is) purerلِقُلُوبِكُمْliqulūbikum for your heartsوَقُلُوبِهِنَّ ۚwaqulūbihinna and their heartsوَمَاwamā And notكَانَkāna isلَكُمْlakum for youأَنan thatتُؤْذُوا۟tu'dhū you troubleرَسُولَrasūla (the) Messengerٱللَّهِl-lahi (of) Allahوَلَآwalā and notأَنan thatتَنكِحُوٓا۟tankiḥū you should marryأَزْوَٰجَهُۥazwājahu his wivesمِنۢmin after himبَعْدِهِۦٓbaʿdihi after himأَبَدًا ۚabadan everإِنَّinna Indeedذَٰلِكُمْdhālikum thatكَانَkāna isعِندَʿinda nearٱللَّهِl-lahi Allahعَظِيمًاʿaẓīman an enormity٥٣
لَّاlā (There is) noجُنَاحَjunāḥa blameعَلَيْهِنَّʿalayhinna upon themفِىٓfī concerningءَابَآئِهِنَّābāihinna their fathersوَلَآwalā and notأَبْنَآئِهِنَّabnāihinna their sonsوَلَآwalā and notإِخْوَٰنِهِنَّikh'wānihinna their brothersوَلَآwalā and notأَبْنَآءِabnāi sonsإِخْوَٰنِهِنَّikh'wānihinna (of) their brothersوَلَآwalā and notأَبْنَآءِabnāi sonsأَخَوَٰتِهِنَّakhawātihinna (of) their sistersوَلَاwalā and notنِسَآئِهِنَّnisāihinna their womenوَلَاwalā and notمَاmā whatمَلَكَتْmalakat they rightfully possessأَيْمَـٰنُهُنَّ ۗaymānuhunna they rightfully possessوَٱتَّقِينَwa-ittaqīna And fearٱللَّهَ ۚl-laha Allahإِنَّinna Indeedٱللَّهَl-laha Allahكَانَkāna isعَلَىٰʿalā overكُلِّkulli allشَىْءٍۢshayin thingsشَهِيدًاshahīdan a Witness٥٥
إِنَّinna Indeedٱللَّهَl-laha Allahوَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتَهُۥwamalāikatahu and His Angelsيُصَلُّونَyuṣallūna send blessingsعَلَىʿalā uponٱلنَّبِىِّ ۚl-nabiyi the Prophetيَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhā O you who believeٱلَّذِينَalladhīna O you who believeءَامَنُوا۟āmanū O you who believeصَلُّوا۟ṣallū Send blessingsعَلَيْهِʿalayhi on himوَسَلِّمُوا۟wasallimū and greet himتَسْلِيمًاtaslīman (with) greetings٥٦
إِنَّinna Indeedٱلَّذِينَalladhīna those whoيُؤْذُونَyu'dhūna annoyٱللَّهَl-laha Allahوَرَسُولَهُۥwarasūlahu and His Messengerلَعَنَهُمُlaʿanahumu Allah has cursed themٱللَّهُl-lahu Allah has cursed themفِىfī inٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā the worldوَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِwal-ākhirati and the Hereafterوَأَعَدَّwa-aʿadda and preparedلَهُمْlahum for themعَذَابًۭاʿadhāban a punishmentمُّهِينًۭاmuhīnan humiliating٥٧
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīna And those whoيُؤْذُونَyu'dhūna harmٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna the believing menوَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِwal-mu'mināti and the believing womenبِغَيْرِbighayri for other thanمَاmā whatٱكْتَسَبُوا۟ik'tasabū they have earnedفَقَدِfaqadi then certainlyٱحْتَمَلُوا۟iḥ'tamalū they bearبُهْتَـٰنًۭاbuh'tānan false accusationوَإِثْمًۭاwa-ith'man and sinمُّبِينًۭاmubīnan manifest٥٨
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhā O Prophetٱلنَّبِىُّl-nabiyu O Prophetقُلqul Sayلِّأَزْوَٰجِكَli-azwājika to your wivesوَبَنَاتِكَwabanātika and your daughtersوَنِسَآءِwanisāi and (the) womenٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna (of) the believersيُدْنِينَyud'nīna to drawعَلَيْهِنَّʿalayhinna over themselvesمِنmin [of]جَلَـٰبِيبِهِنَّ ۚjalābībihinna their outer garmentsذَٰلِكَdhālika Thatأَدْنَىٰٓadnā (is) more suitableأَنan thatيُعْرَفْنَyuʿ'rafna they should be knownفَلَاfalā and notيُؤْذَيْنَ ۗyu'dhayna harmedوَكَانَwakāna And isٱللَّهُl-lahu Allahغَفُورًۭاghafūran Oft-Forgivingرَّحِيمًۭاraḥīman Most Merciful٥٩
۞ لَّئِنla-in Ifلَّمْlam (do) notيَنتَهِyantahi ceaseٱلْمُنَـٰفِقُونَl-munāfiqūna the hypocritesوَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīna and those whoفِىfī inقُلُوبِهِمqulūbihim their heartsمَّرَضٌۭmaraḍun (is) a diseaseوَٱلْمُرْجِفُونَwal-mur'jifūna and those who spread rumorsفِىfī inٱلْمَدِينَةِl-madīnati the cityلَنُغْرِيَنَّكَlanugh'riyannaka We will let you overpower themبِهِمْbihim We will let you overpower themثُمَّthumma thenلَاlā notيُجَاوِرُونَكَyujāwirūnaka they will remain your neighborsفِيهَآfīhā thereinإِلَّاillā exceptقَلِيلًۭاqalīlan (for) a little٦٠
مَّلْعُونِينَ ۖmalʿūnīna Accursedأَيْنَمَاaynamā whereverثُقِفُوٓا۟thuqifū they are foundأُخِذُوا۟ukhidhū they are seizedوَقُتِّلُوا۟waquttilū and massacred completelyتَقْتِيلًۭاtaqtīlan and massacred completely٦١
سُنَّةَsunnata (Such is the) Wayٱللَّهِl-lahi (of) Allahفِىfī withٱلَّذِينَalladhīna those whoخَلَوْا۟khalaw passed awayمِنmin beforeقَبْلُ ۖqablu beforeوَلَنwalan and neverتَجِدَtajida you will findلِسُنَّةِlisunnati in (the) Wayٱللَّهِl-lahi (of) Allahتَبْدِيلًۭاtabdīlan any change٦٢
يَسْـَٔلُكَyasaluka Ask youٱلنَّاسُl-nāsu the peopleعَنِʿani aboutٱلسَّاعَةِ ۖl-sāʿati the Hourقُلْqul Sayإِنَّمَاinnamā Onlyعِلْمُهَاʿil'muhā its knowledgeعِندَʿinda (is) withٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahi Allahوَمَاwamā And whatيُدْرِيكَyud'rīka will make you knowلَعَلَّlaʿalla Perhapsٱلسَّاعَةَl-sāʿata the Hourتَكُونُtakūnu isقَرِيبًاqarīban near٦٣
إِنَّinna Indeedٱللَّهَl-laha Allahلَعَنَlaʿana has cursedٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīna the disbelieversوَأَعَدَّwa-aʿadda and has preparedلَهُمْlahum for themسَعِيرًاsaʿīran a Blaze٦٤
خَـٰلِدِينَkhālidīna Abidingفِيهَآfīhā thereinأَبَدًۭا ۖabadan foreverلَّاlā notيَجِدُونَyajidūna they will findوَلِيًّۭاwaliyyan any protectorوَلَاwalā and notنَصِيرًۭاnaṣīran any helper٦٥
يَوْمَyawma (The) Dayتُقَلَّبُtuqallabu will be turned aboutوُجُوهُهُمْwujūhuhum their facesفِىfī inٱلنَّارِl-nāri the Fireيَقُولُونَyaqūlūna they will sayيَـٰلَيْتَنَآyālaytanā O we wishأَطَعْنَاaṭaʿnā we (had) obeyedٱللَّهَl-laha Allahوَأَطَعْنَاwa-aṭaʿnā and obeyedٱلرَّسُولَا۠l-rasūlā the Messenger٦٦
وَقَالُوا۟waqālū And they will sayرَبَّنَآrabbanā Our Lordإِنَّآinnā Indeed, weأَطَعْنَاaṭaʿnā [we] obeyedسَادَتَنَاsādatanā our chiefsوَكُبَرَآءَنَاwakubarāanā and our great menفَأَضَلُّونَاfa-aḍallūnā and they misled usٱلسَّبِيلَا۠l-sabīlā (from) the Way٦٧
رَبَّنَآrabbanā Our Lordءَاتِهِمْātihim Give themضِعْفَيْنِḍiʿ'fayni doubleمِنَmina [of]ٱلْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābi punishmentوَٱلْعَنْهُمْwal-ʿanhum and curse themلَعْنًۭاlaʿnan (with) a curseكَبِيرًۭاkabīran great٦٨
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhā O you who believeٱلَّذِينَalladhīna O you who believeءَامَنُوا۟āmanū O you who believeلَاlā (Do) notتَكُونُوا۟takūnū beكَٱلَّذِينَka-alladhīna like those whoءَاذَوْا۟ādhaw abusedمُوسَىٰmūsā Musaفَبَرَّأَهُfabarra-ahu then Allah cleared himٱللَّهُl-lahu then Allah cleared himمِمَّاmimmā of whatقَالُوا۟ ۚqālū they saidوَكَانَwakāna And he wasعِندَʿinda nearٱللَّهِl-lahi Allahوَجِيهًۭاwajīhan honorable٦٩
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhā O you who believeٱلَّذِينَalladhīna O you who believeءَامَنُوا۟āmanū O you who believeٱتَّقُوا۟ittaqū Fearٱللَّهَl-laha Allahوَقُولُوا۟waqūlū and speakقَوْلًۭاqawlan a wordسَدِيدًۭاsadīdan right٧٠
يُصْلِحْyuṣ'liḥ He will amendلَكُمْlakum for youأَعْمَـٰلَكُمْaʿmālakum your deedsوَيَغْفِرْwayaghfir and forgiveلَكُمْlakum for youذُنُوبَكُمْ ۗdhunūbakum your sinsوَمَنwaman And whoeverيُطِعِyuṭiʿi obeysٱللَّهَl-laha Allahوَرَسُولَهُۥwarasūlahu and His Messengerفَقَدْfaqad certainlyفَازَfāza has attainedفَوْزًاfawzan an attainmentعَظِيمًاʿaẓīman great٧١
إِنَّاinnā Indeed, Weعَرَضْنَاʿaraḍnā [We] offeredٱلْأَمَانَةَl-amānata the Trustعَلَىʿalā toٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti the heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍi and the earthوَٱلْجِبَالِwal-jibāli and the mountainsفَأَبَيْنَfa-abayna but they refusedأَنan toيَحْمِلْنَهَاyaḥmil'nahā bear itوَأَشْفَقْنَwa-ashfaqna and they fearedمِنْهَاmin'hā from itوَحَمَلَهَاwaḥamalahā but bore itٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ ۖl-insānu the manإِنَّهُۥinnahu Indeed, heكَانَkāna wasظَلُومًۭاẓalūman unjustجَهُولًۭاjahūlan ignorant٧٢
لِّيُعَذِّبَliyuʿadhiba So that Allah may punishٱللَّهُl-lahu So that Allah may punishٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَl-munāfiqīna the hypocrite menوَٱلْمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِwal-munāfiqāti and the hypocrite womenوَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَwal-mush'rikīna and the polytheist menوَٱلْمُشْرِكَـٰتِwal-mush'rikāti and the polytheist womenوَيَتُوبَwayatūba and Allah will turn (in Mercy)ٱللَّهُl-lahu and Allah will turn (in Mercy)عَلَىʿalā toٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna the believing menوَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ ۗwal-mu'mināti and the believing womenوَكَانَwakāna And Allah isٱللَّهُl-lahu And Allah isغَفُورًۭاghafūran Oft-Forgivingرَّحِيمًۢاraḥīman Most Merciful٧٣
