بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
وَٱلْكِتَـٰبِwal-kitābi
By the Book ٱلْمُبِينِl-mubīni
the clear ٢
By the Book ٱلْمُبِينِl-mubīni
the clear ٢
إِنَّاinnā
Indeed, We جَعَلْنَـٰهُjaʿalnāhu
(have) made it قُرْءَٰنًاqur'ānan
a Quran عَرَبِيًّۭاʿarabiyyan
(in) Arabic لَّعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakum
so that you may تَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūna
understand ٣
Indeed, We جَعَلْنَـٰهُjaʿalnāhu
(have) made it قُرْءَٰنًاqur'ānan
a Quran عَرَبِيًّۭاʿarabiyyan
(in) Arabic لَّعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakum
so that you may تَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūna
understand ٣
وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahu
And indeed, it فِىٓfī
(is) in أُمِّummi
(the) Mother ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi
(of) the Book لَدَيْنَاladaynā
with Us لَعَلِىٌّlaʿaliyyun
surely exalted حَكِيمٌḥakīmun
full of wisdom ٤
And indeed, it فِىٓfī
(is) in أُمِّummi
(the) Mother ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi
(of) the Book لَدَيْنَاladaynā
with Us لَعَلِىٌّlaʿaliyyun
surely exalted حَكِيمٌḥakīmun
full of wisdom ٤
أَفَنَضْرِبُafanaḍribu
Then should We take away عَنكُمُʿankumu
from you ٱلذِّكْرَl-dhik'ra
the Reminder صَفْحًاṣafḥan
disregarding (you) أَنan
because كُنتُمْkuntum
you are قَوْمًۭاqawman
a people مُّسْرِفِينَmus'rifīna
transgressing ٥
Then should We take away عَنكُمُʿankumu
from you ٱلذِّكْرَl-dhik'ra
the Reminder صَفْحًاṣafḥan
disregarding (you) أَنan
because كُنتُمْkuntum
you are قَوْمًۭاqawman
a people مُّسْرِفِينَmus'rifīna
transgressing ٥
وَكَمْwakam
And how many أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnā
We sent مِنmin
of نَّبِىٍّۢnabiyyin
a Prophet فِىfī
among ٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīna
the former (people) ٦
And how many أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnā
We sent مِنmin
of نَّبِىٍّۢnabiyyin
a Prophet فِىfī
among ٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīna
the former (people) ٦
وَمَاwamā
And not يَأْتِيهِمyatīhim
came to them مِّنmin
any Prophet نَّبِىٍّnabiyyin
any Prophet إِلَّاillā
but كَانُوا۟kānū
they used to بِهِۦbihi
mock at him يَسْتَهْزِءُونَyastahziūna
mock at him ٧
And not يَأْتِيهِمyatīhim
came to them مِّنmin
any Prophet نَّبِىٍّnabiyyin
any Prophet إِلَّاillā
but كَانُوا۟kānū
they used to بِهِۦbihi
mock at him يَسْتَهْزِءُونَyastahziūna
mock at him ٧
فَأَهْلَكْنَآfa-ahlaknā
Then We destroyed أَشَدَّashadda
stronger مِنْهُمmin'hum
than them بَطْشًۭاbaṭshan
(in) power وَمَضَىٰwamaḍā
and has passed مَثَلُmathalu
(the) example ٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīna
(of) the former (people) ٨
Then We destroyed أَشَدَّashadda
stronger مِنْهُمmin'hum
than them بَطْشًۭاbaṭshan
(in) power وَمَضَىٰwamaḍā
and has passed مَثَلُmathalu
(the) example ٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīna
(of) the former (people) ٨
وَلَئِنwala-in
And if سَأَلْتَهُمsa-altahum
you ask them مَّنْman
Who خَلَقَkhalaqa
created ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti
the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍa
and the earth لَيَقُولُنَّlayaqūlunna
They will surely say خَلَقَهُنَّkhalaqahunna
Created them ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu
the All-Mighty ٱلْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmu
the All-Knower ٩
And if سَأَلْتَهُمsa-altahum
you ask them مَّنْman
Who خَلَقَkhalaqa
created ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti
the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍa
and the earth لَيَقُولُنَّlayaqūlunna
They will surely say خَلَقَهُنَّkhalaqahunna
Created them ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu
the All-Mighty ٱلْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmu
the All-Knower ٩
ٱلَّذِىalladhī
The One Who جَعَلَjaʿala
made لَكُمُlakumu
for you ٱلْأَرْضَl-arḍa
the earth مَهْدًۭاmahdan
a bed وَجَعَلَwajaʿala
and made لَكُمْlakum
for you فِيهَاfīhā
therein سُبُلًۭاsubulan
roads لَّعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakum
so that you may تَهْتَدُونَtahtadūna
(be) guided ١٠
The One Who جَعَلَjaʿala
made لَكُمُlakumu
for you ٱلْأَرْضَl-arḍa
the earth مَهْدًۭاmahdan
a bed وَجَعَلَwajaʿala
and made لَكُمْlakum
for you فِيهَاfīhā
therein سُبُلًۭاsubulan
roads لَّعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakum
so that you may تَهْتَدُونَtahtadūna
(be) guided ١٠
وَٱلَّذِىwa-alladhī
And the One Who نَزَّلَnazzala
sends down مِنَmina
from ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāi
the sky مَآءًۢmāan
water بِقَدَرٍۢbiqadarin
in (due) measure فَأَنشَرْنَاfa-ansharnā
then We revive بِهِۦbihi
with it بَلْدَةًۭbaldatan
a land مَّيْتًۭا ۚmaytan
dead كَذَٰلِكَkadhālika
thus تُخْرَجُونَtukh'rajūna
you will be brought forth ١١
And the One Who نَزَّلَnazzala
sends down مِنَmina
from ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāi
the sky مَآءًۢmāan
water بِقَدَرٍۢbiqadarin
in (due) measure فَأَنشَرْنَاfa-ansharnā
then We revive بِهِۦbihi
with it بَلْدَةًۭbaldatan
a land مَّيْتًۭا ۚmaytan
dead كَذَٰلِكَkadhālika
thus تُخْرَجُونَtukh'rajūna
you will be brought forth ١١
وَٱلَّذِىwa-alladhī
And the One Who خَلَقَkhalaqa
created ٱلْأَزْوَٰجَl-azwāja
the pairs كُلَّهَاkullahā
all of them وَجَعَلَwajaʿala
and made لَكُمlakum
for you مِّنَmina
[of] ٱلْفُلْكِl-ful'ki
the ships وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِwal-anʿāmi
and the cattle مَاmā
what تَرْكَبُونَtarkabūna
you ride ١٢
And the One Who خَلَقَkhalaqa
created ٱلْأَزْوَٰجَl-azwāja
the pairs كُلَّهَاkullahā
all of them وَجَعَلَwajaʿala
and made لَكُمlakum
for you مِّنَmina
[of] ٱلْفُلْكِl-ful'ki
the ships وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِwal-anʿāmi
and the cattle مَاmā
what تَرْكَبُونَtarkabūna
you ride ١٢
لِتَسْتَوُۥا۟litastawū
That you may sit firmly عَلَىٰʿalā
on ظُهُورِهِۦẓuhūrihi
their backs ثُمَّthumma
then تَذْكُرُوا۟tadhkurū
remember نِعْمَةَniʿ'mata
(the) favor رَبِّكُمْrabbikum
(of) your Lord إِذَاidhā
when ٱسْتَوَيْتُمْis'tawaytum
you sit firmly عَلَيْهِʿalayhi
on them وَتَقُولُوا۟wataqūlū
and say سُبْحَـٰنَsub'ḥāna
Glory be (to) ٱلَّذِىalladhī
the One Who سَخَّرَsakhara
(has) subjected لَنَاlanā
to us هَـٰذَاhādhā
this وَمَاwamā
and not كُنَّاkunnā
we were لَهُۥlahu
of it مُقْرِنِينَmuq'rinīna
capable ١٣
That you may sit firmly عَلَىٰʿalā
on ظُهُورِهِۦẓuhūrihi
their backs ثُمَّthumma
then تَذْكُرُوا۟tadhkurū
remember نِعْمَةَniʿ'mata
(the) favor رَبِّكُمْrabbikum
(of) your Lord إِذَاidhā
when ٱسْتَوَيْتُمْis'tawaytum
you sit firmly عَلَيْهِʿalayhi
on them وَتَقُولُوا۟wataqūlū
and say سُبْحَـٰنَsub'ḥāna
Glory be (to) ٱلَّذِىalladhī
the One Who سَخَّرَsakhara
(has) subjected لَنَاlanā
to us هَـٰذَاhādhā
this وَمَاwamā
and not كُنَّاkunnā
we were لَهُۥlahu
of it مُقْرِنِينَmuq'rinīna
capable ١٣
وَإِنَّآwa-innā
And indeed, we إِلَىٰilā
to رَبِّنَاrabbinā
our Lord لَمُنقَلِبُونَlamunqalibūna
will surely return ١٤
And indeed, we إِلَىٰilā
to رَبِّنَاrabbinā
our Lord لَمُنقَلِبُونَlamunqalibūna
will surely return ١٤
وَجَعَلُوا۟wajaʿalū
But they attribute لَهُۥlahu
to Him مِنْmin
from عِبَادِهِۦʿibādihi
His slaves جُزْءًا ۚjuz'an
a portion إِنَّinna
Indeed ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَl-insāna
man لَكَفُورٌۭlakafūrun
surely (is) clearly ungrateful مُّبِينٌmubīnun
surely (is) clearly ungrateful ١٥
But they attribute لَهُۥlahu
to Him مِنْmin
from عِبَادِهِۦʿibādihi
His slaves جُزْءًا ۚjuz'an
a portion إِنَّinna
Indeed ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَl-insāna
man لَكَفُورٌۭlakafūrun
surely (is) clearly ungrateful مُّبِينٌmubīnun
surely (is) clearly ungrateful ١٥
أَمِami
Or ٱتَّخَذَittakhadha
has He taken مِمَّاmimmā
of what يَخْلُقُyakhluqu
He has created بَنَاتٍۢbanātin
daughters وَأَصْفَىٰكُمwa-aṣfākum
and He has chosen (for) you بِٱلْبَنِينَbil-banīna
sons ١٦
Or ٱتَّخَذَittakhadha
has He taken مِمَّاmimmā
of what يَخْلُقُyakhluqu
He has created بَنَاتٍۢbanātin
daughters وَأَصْفَىٰكُمwa-aṣfākum
and He has chosen (for) you بِٱلْبَنِينَbil-banīna
sons ١٦
وَإِذَاwa-idhā
And when بُشِّرَbushira
is given good news أَحَدُهُمaḥaduhum
(to) one of them بِمَاbimā
of what ضَرَبَḍaraba
he sets up لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِlilrraḥmāni
for the Most Gracious مَثَلًۭاmathalan
(as) a likeness ظَلَّẓalla
becomes وَجْهُهُۥwajhuhu
his face مُسْوَدًّۭاmus'waddan
dark وَهُوَwahuwa
and he كَظِيمٌkaẓīmun
(is) filled with grief ١٧
And when بُشِّرَbushira
is given good news أَحَدُهُمaḥaduhum
(to) one of them بِمَاbimā
of what ضَرَبَḍaraba
he sets up لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِlilrraḥmāni
for the Most Gracious مَثَلًۭاmathalan
(as) a likeness ظَلَّẓalla
becomes وَجْهُهُۥwajhuhu
his face مُسْوَدًّۭاmus'waddan
dark وَهُوَwahuwa
and he كَظِيمٌkaẓīmun
(is) filled with grief ١٧
أَوَمَنawaman
Then (is one) who يُنَشَّؤُا۟yunasha-u
is brought up فِىfī
in ٱلْحِلْيَةِl-ḥil'yati
ornaments وَهُوَwahuwa
and he فِىfī
in ٱلْخِصَامِl-khiṣāmi
the dispute غَيْرُghayru
(is) not مُبِينٍۢmubīnin
clear ١٨
Then (is one) who يُنَشَّؤُا۟yunasha-u
is brought up فِىfī
in ٱلْحِلْيَةِl-ḥil'yati
ornaments وَهُوَwahuwa
and he فِىfī
in ٱلْخِصَامِl-khiṣāmi
the dispute غَيْرُghayru
(is) not مُبِينٍۢmubīnin
clear ١٨
وَجَعَلُوا۟wajaʿalū
And they made ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَl-malāikata
the Angels ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna
those who هُمْhum
themselves عِبَـٰدُʿibādu
(are) slaves ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāni
(of) the Most Gracious إِنَـٰثًا ۚināthan
females أَشَهِدُوا۟ashahidū
Did they witness خَلْقَهُمْ ۚkhalqahum
their creation سَتُكْتَبُsatuk'tabu
Will be recorded شَهَـٰدَتُهُمْshahādatuhum
their testimony وَيُسْـَٔلُونَwayus'alūna
and they will be questioned ١٩
And they made ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَl-malāikata
the Angels ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna
those who هُمْhum
themselves عِبَـٰدُʿibādu
(are) slaves ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāni
(of) the Most Gracious إِنَـٰثًا ۚināthan
females أَشَهِدُوا۟ashahidū
Did they witness خَلْقَهُمْ ۚkhalqahum
their creation سَتُكْتَبُsatuk'tabu
Will be recorded شَهَـٰدَتُهُمْshahādatuhum

we would not have worshipped them عَبَدْنَـٰهُم ۗʿabadnāhum
we would not have worshipped them مَّاmā
Not لَهُمlahum
they have بِذَٰلِكَbidhālika
about that مِنْmin
any عِلْمٍ ۖʿil'min
knowledge إِنْin
Nothing هُمْhum
they (do) إِلَّاillā
but يَخْرُصُونَyakhruṣūna
lie ٢٠
And they say لَوْlaw
If شَآءَshāa
had willed ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُl-raḥmānu
the Most Gracious مَاmā
we would not have worshipped them عَبَدْنَـٰهُم ۗʿabadnāhum
we would not have worshipped them مَّاmā
Not لَهُمlahum
they have بِذَٰلِكَbidhālika
about that مِنْmin
any عِلْمٍ ۖʿil'min
knowledge إِنْin
Nothing هُمْhum
they (do) إِلَّاillā
but يَخْرُصُونَyakhruṣūna
lie ٢٠
أَمْam
Or ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْātaynāhum
have We given them كِتَـٰبًۭاkitāban
a book مِّنmin
before it قَبْلِهِۦqablihi
before it فَهُمfahum
so they بِهِۦbihi
to it مُسْتَمْسِكُونَmus'tamsikūna
(are) holding fast ٢١
Or ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْātaynāhum
have We given them كِتَـٰبًۭاkitāban
a book مِّنmin
before it قَبْلِهِۦqablihi
before it فَهُمfahum
so they بِهِۦbihi
to it مُسْتَمْسِكُونَmus'tamsikūna
(are) holding fast ٢١
بَلْbal
Nay قَالُوٓا۟qālū
they say إِنَّاinnā
Indeed, we وَجَدْنَآwajadnā
[we] found ءَابَآءَنَاābāanā
our forefathers عَلَىٰٓʿalā
upon أُمَّةٍۢummatin
a religion وَإِنَّاwa-innā
and indeed, we عَلَىٰٓʿalā
on ءَاثَـٰرِهِمāthārihim
their footsteps مُّهْتَدُونَmuh'tadūna
(are) guided ٢٢
Nay قَالُوٓا۟qālū
they say إِنَّاinnā
Indeed, we وَجَدْنَآwajadnā
[we] found ءَابَآءَنَاābāanā
our forefathers عَلَىٰٓʿalā
upon أُمَّةٍۢummatin
a religion وَإِنَّاwa-innā
and indeed, we عَلَىٰٓʿalā
on ءَاثَـٰرِهِمāthārihim
their footsteps مُّهْتَدُونَmuh'tadūna
(are) guided ٢٢
وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālika
And thus مَآmā
not أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnā
We sent مِنmin
before you قَبْلِكَqablika
before you فِىfī
in قَرْيَةٍۢqaryatin
a town مِّنmin
any نَّذِيرٍnadhīrin
warner إِلَّاillā
except قَالَqāla
said مُتْرَفُوهَآmut'rafūhā
(the) wealthy ones of it إِنَّاinnā
Indeed, we وَجَدْنَآwajadnā
[we] found ءَابَآءَنَاābāanā
our forefathers عَلَىٰٓʿalā
on أُمَّةٍۢummatin
a religion وَإِنَّاwa-innā
and indeed, we عَلَىٰٓʿalā
[on] ءَاثَـٰرِهِمāthārihim
their footsteps مُّقْتَدُونَmuq'tadūna
(are) following ٢٣
And thus مَآmā
not أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnā
We sent مِنmin
before you قَبْلِكَqablika
before you فِىfī
in قَرْيَةٍۢqaryatin
a town مِّنmin
any نَّذِيرٍnadhīrin
warner إِلَّاillā
except قَالَqāla
said مُتْرَفُوهَآmut'rafūhā
(the) wealthy ones of it إِنَّاinnā
Indeed, we وَجَدْنَآwajadnā
[we] found ءَابَآءَنَاābāanā
our forefathers عَلَىٰٓʿalā
on أُمَّةٍۢummatin
a religion وَإِنَّاwa-innā
and indeed, we عَلَىٰٓʿalā
[on] ءَاثَـٰرِهِمāthārihim
their footsteps مُّقْتَدُونَmuq'tadūna
(are) following ٢٣
۞ قَـٰلَqāla
He said أَوَلَوْawalaw
Even if جِئْتُكُمji'tukum
I brought you بِأَهْدَىٰbi-ahdā
better guidance مِمَّاmimmā
than what وَجَدتُّمْwajadttum
you found عَلَيْهِʿalayhi
on it ءَابَآءَكُمْ ۖābāakum
your forefathers قَالُوٓا۟qālū
They said إِنَّاinnā
Indeed, we بِمَآbimā
with what أُرْسِلْتُمur'sil'tum
you are sent بِهِۦbihi
with [it] كَـٰفِرُونَkāfirūna
(are) disbelievers ٢٤
He said أَوَلَوْawalaw
Even if جِئْتُكُمji'tukum
I brought you بِأَهْدَىٰbi-ahdā
better guidance مِمَّاmimmā
than what وَجَدتُّمْwajadttum
you found عَلَيْهِʿalayhi
on it ءَابَآءَكُمْ ۖābāakum
your forefathers قَالُوٓا۟qālū
They said إِنَّاinnā
Indeed, we بِمَآbimā
with what أُرْسِلْتُمur'sil'tum
you are sent بِهِۦbihi
with [it] كَـٰفِرُونَkāfirūna
(are) disbelievers ٢٤
فَٱنتَقَمْنَاfa-intaqamnā
So We took retribution مِنْهُمْ ۖmin'hum
from them فَٱنظُرْfa-unẓur
Then see كَيْفَkayfa
how كَانَkāna
was عَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatu
(the) end ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَl-mukadhibīna
(of) the deniers ٢٥
So We took retribution مِنْهُمْ ۖmin'hum
from them فَٱنظُرْfa-unẓur
Then see كَيْفَkayfa
how كَانَkāna
was عَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatu
(the) end ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَl-mukadhibīna
(of) the deniers ٢٥
وَإِذْwa-idh
And when قَالَqāla
Ibrahim Said إِبْرَٰهِيمُib'rāhīmu
Ibrahim Said لِأَبِيهِli-abīhi
to his father وَقَوْمِهِۦٓwaqawmihi
and his people إِنَّنِىinnanī
Indeed, I (am) بَرَآءٌۭbarāon
disassociated مِّمَّاmimmā
from what تَعْبُدُونَtaʿbudūna
you worship ٢٦
And when قَالَqāla
Ibrahim Said إِبْرَٰهِيمُib'rāhīmu
Ibrahim Said لِأَبِيهِli-abīhi
to his father وَقَوْمِهِۦٓwaqawmihi
and his people إِنَّنِىinnanī
Indeed, I (am) بَرَآءٌۭbarāon
disassociated مِّمَّاmimmā
from what تَعْبُدُونَtaʿbudūna
you worship ٢٦
إِلَّاillā
Except ٱلَّذِىalladhī
the One Who فَطَرَنِىfaṭaranī
created me فَإِنَّهُۥfa-innahu
and indeed, He سَيَهْدِينِsayahdīni
will guide me ٢٧
Except ٱلَّذِىalladhī
the One Who فَطَرَنِىfaṭaranī
created me فَإِنَّهُۥfa-innahu
and indeed, He سَيَهْدِينِsayahdīni
will guide me ٢٧
وَجَعَلَهَاwajaʿalahā
And he made it كَلِمَةًۢkalimatan
a word بَاقِيَةًۭbāqiyatan
lasting فِىfī
among عَقِبِهِۦʿaqibihi
his descendents لَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahum
so that they may يَرْجِعُونَyarjiʿūna
return ٢٨
And he made it كَلِمَةًۢkalimatan
a word بَاقِيَةًۭbāqiyatan
lasting فِىfī
among عَقِبِهِۦʿaqibihi
his descendents لَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahum
so that they may يَرْجِعُونَyarjiʿūna
return ٢٨
بَلْbal
Nay مَتَّعْتُmattaʿtu
I gave enjoyment هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāi
(to) these وَءَابَآءَهُمْwaābāahum
and their forefathers حَتَّىٰḥattā
until جَآءَهُمُjāahumu
came to them ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaqu
the truth وَرَسُولٌۭwarasūlun
and a Messenger مُّبِينٌۭmubīnun
clear ٢٩
Nay مَتَّعْتُmattaʿtu
I gave enjoyment هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāi
(to) these وَءَابَآءَهُمْwaābāahum
and their forefathers حَتَّىٰḥattā
until جَآءَهُمُjāahumu
came to them ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaqu
the truth وَرَسُولٌۭwarasūlun
and a Messenger مُّبِينٌۭmubīnun
clear ٢٩
وَلَمَّاwalammā
And when جَآءَهُمُjāahumu
came to them ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaqu
the truth قَالُوا۟qālū
they said هَـٰذَاhādhā
This سِحْرٌۭsiḥ'run
(is) magic وَإِنَّاwa-innā
and indeed, we بِهِۦbihi
of it كَـٰفِرُونَkāfirūna
(are) disbelievers ٣٠
And when جَآءَهُمُjāahumu
came to them ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaqu
the truth قَالُوا۟qālū
they said هَـٰذَاhādhā
This سِحْرٌۭsiḥ'run
(is) magic وَإِنَّاwa-innā
and indeed, we بِهِۦbihi
of it كَـٰفِرُونَkāfirūna
(are) disbelievers ٣٠
وَقَالُوا۟waqālū
And they say لَوْلَاlawlā
Why not نُزِّلَnuzzila
was sent down هَـٰذَاhādhā
this ٱلْقُرْءَانُl-qur'ānu
the Quran عَلَىٰʿalā
to رَجُلٍۢrajulin
a man مِّنَmina
from ٱلْقَرْيَتَيْنِl-qaryatayni
the two towns عَظِيمٍʿaẓīmin
great ٣١
And they say لَوْلَاlawlā
Why not نُزِّلَnuzzila
was sent down هَـٰذَاhādhā
this ٱلْقُرْءَانُl-qur'ānu
the Quran عَلَىٰʿalā
to رَجُلٍۢrajulin
a man مِّنَmina
from ٱلْقَرْيَتَيْنِl-qaryatayni
the two towns عَظِيمٍʿaẓīmin
great ٣١
أَهُمْahum
Do they يَقْسِمُونَyaqsimūna
distribute رَحْمَتَraḥmata
(the) Mercy رَبِّكَ ۚrabbika
(of) your Lord نَحْنُnaḥnu
We قَسَمْنَاqasamnā
[We] distribute بَيْنَهُمbaynahum
among them مَّعِيشَتَهُمْmaʿīshatahum
their livelihood فِىfī
in ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayati
the life ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚl-dun'yā
(of) the world وَرَفَعْنَاwarafaʿnā
and We raise بَعْضَهُمْbaʿḍahum
some of them فَوْقَfawqa
above بَعْضٍۢbaʿḍin
others دَرَجَـٰتٍۢdarajātin
(in) degrees لِّيَتَّخِذَliyattakhidha
so that may take بَعْضُهُمbaʿḍuhum
some of them بَعْضًۭاbaʿḍan
others سُخْرِيًّۭا ۗsukh'riyyan
(for) service وَرَحْمَتُwaraḥmatu
But (the) Mercy رَبِّكَrabbika
(of) your Lord خَيْرٌۭkhayrun
(is) better مِّمَّاmimmā
than what يَجْمَعُونَyajmaʿūna
they accumulate ٣٢
Do they يَقْسِمُونَyaqsimūna
distribute رَحْمَتَraḥmata
(the) Mercy رَبِّكَ ۚrabbika
(of) your Lord نَحْنُnaḥnu
We قَسَمْنَاqasamnā
[We] distribute بَيْنَهُمbaynahum
among them مَّعِيشَتَهُمْmaʿīshatahum
their livelihood فِىfī
in ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayati
the life ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚl-dun'yā
(of) the world وَرَفَعْنَاwarafaʿnā
and We raise بَعْضَهُمْbaʿḍahum
some of them فَوْقَfawqa
above بَعْضٍۢbaʿḍin
others دَرَجَـٰتٍۢdarajātin
(in) degrees لِّيَتَّخِذَliyattakhidha
so that may take بَعْضُهُمbaʿḍuhum
some of them بَعْضًۭاbaʿḍan
others سُخْرِيًّۭا ۗsukh'riyyan
(for) service وَرَحْمَتُwaraḥmatu
But (the) Mercy رَبِّكَrabbika
(of) your Lord خَيْرٌۭkhayrun
(is) better مِّمَّاmimmā
than what يَجْمَعُونَyajmaʿūna

وَلَوْلَآwalawlā
And if not أَنan
that يَكُونَyakūna
(would) become ٱلنَّاسُl-nāsu
[the] mankind أُمَّةًۭummatan
a community وَٰحِدَةًۭwāḥidatan
one لَّجَعَلْنَاlajaʿalnā
We (would have) made لِمَنliman
for (one) who يَكْفُرُyakfuru
disbelieves بِٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِbil-raḥmāni
in the Most Gracious لِبُيُوتِهِمْlibuyūtihim
for their houses سُقُفًۭاsuqufan
roofs مِّنmin
of فِضَّةٍۢfiḍḍatin
silver وَمَعَارِجَwamaʿārija
and stairways عَلَيْهَاʿalayhā
upon which يَظْهَرُونَyaẓharūna
they mount ٣٣
And if not أَنan
that يَكُونَyakūna
(would) become ٱلنَّاسُl-nāsu
[the] mankind أُمَّةًۭummatan
a community وَٰحِدَةًۭwāḥidatan
one لَّجَعَلْنَاlajaʿalnā
We (would have) made لِمَنliman
for (one) who يَكْفُرُyakfuru
disbelieves بِٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِbil-raḥmāni
in the Most Gracious لِبُيُوتِهِمْlibuyūtihim
for their houses سُقُفًۭاsuqufan
roofs مِّنmin
of فِضَّةٍۢfiḍḍatin
silver وَمَعَارِجَwamaʿārija
and stairways عَلَيْهَاʿalayhā
upon which يَظْهَرُونَyaẓharūna
they mount ٣٣
وَلِبُيُوتِهِمْwalibuyūtihim
And for their houses أَبْوَٰبًۭاabwāban
doors وَسُرُرًاwasururan
and couches عَلَيْهَاʿalayhā
upon which يَتَّكِـُٔونَyattakiūna
they recline ٣٤
And for their houses أَبْوَٰبًۭاabwāban
doors وَسُرُرًاwasururan
and couches عَلَيْهَاʿalayhā
upon which يَتَّكِـُٔونَyattakiūna
they recline ٣٤
وَزُخْرُفًۭا ۚwazukh'rufan
And ornaments of gold وَإِنwa-in
And not (is) كُلُّkullu
all ذَٰلِكَdhālika
that لَمَّاlammā
but مَتَـٰعُmatāʿu
an enjoyment ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayati
(of) the life ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚl-dun'yā
(of) the world وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُwal-ākhiratu
And the Hereafter عِندَʿinda
with رَبِّكَrabbika
your Lord لِلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīna
(is) for the righteous ٣٥
And ornaments of gold وَإِنwa-in
And not (is) كُلُّkullu
all ذَٰلِكَdhālika
that لَمَّاlammā
but مَتَـٰعُmatāʿu
an enjoyment ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayati
(of) the life ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚl-dun'yā
(of) the world وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُwal-ākhiratu
And the Hereafter عِندَʿinda
with رَبِّكَrabbika
your Lord لِلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīna
(is) for the righteous ٣٥
وَمَنwaman
And whoever يَعْشُyaʿshu
turns away عَنʿan
from ذِكْرِdhik'ri
(the) remembrance ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāni
(of) the Most Gracious نُقَيِّضْnuqayyiḍ
We appoint لَهُۥlahu
for him شَيْطَـٰنًۭاshayṭānan
a devil فَهُوَfahuwa
then he لَهُۥlahu
(is) to him قَرِينٌۭqarīnun
a companion ٣٦
And whoever يَعْشُyaʿshu
turns away عَنʿan
from ذِكْرِdhik'ri
(the) remembrance ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāni
(of) the Most Gracious نُقَيِّضْnuqayyiḍ
We appoint لَهُۥlahu
for him شَيْطَـٰنًۭاshayṭānan
a devil فَهُوَfahuwa
then he لَهُۥlahu
(is) to him قَرِينٌۭqarīnun
a companion ٣٦
وَإِنَّهُمْwa-innahum
And indeed, they لَيَصُدُّونَهُمْlayaṣuddūnahum
surely, turn them عَنِʿani
from ٱلسَّبِيلِl-sabīli
the Path وَيَحْسَبُونَwayaḥsabūna
and they think أَنَّهُمannahum
that they مُّهْتَدُونَmuh'tadūna
(are) guided ٣٧
And indeed, they لَيَصُدُّونَهُمْlayaṣuddūnahum
surely, turn them عَنِʿani
from ٱلسَّبِيلِl-sabīli
the Path وَيَحْسَبُونَwayaḥsabūna
and they think أَنَّهُمannahum
that they مُّهْتَدُونَmuh'tadūna
(are) guided ٣٧
حَتَّىٰٓḥattā
Until إِذَاidhā
when جَآءَنَاjāanā
he comes to Us قَالَqāla
he says يَـٰلَيْتَyālayta
O would that بَيْنِىbaynī
between me وَبَيْنَكَwabaynaka
and between you بُعْدَbuʿ'da
(were the) distance ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِl-mashriqayni
(of) the East and the West فَبِئْسَfabi'sa
How wretched is ٱلْقَرِينُl-qarīnu
the companion ٣٨
Until إِذَاidhā
when جَآءَنَاjāanā
he comes to Us قَالَqāla
he says يَـٰلَيْتَyālayta
O would that بَيْنِىbaynī
between me وَبَيْنَكَwabaynaka
and between you بُعْدَbuʿ'da
(were the) distance ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِl-mashriqayni
(of) the East and the West فَبِئْسَfabi'sa
How wretched is ٱلْقَرِينُl-qarīnu
the companion ٣٨
وَلَنwalan
And never يَنفَعَكُمُyanfaʿakumu
will benefit you ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawma
the Day إِذidh
when ظَّلَمْتُمْẓalamtum
you have wronged أَنَّكُمْannakum
that you فِىfī
(will be) in ٱلْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābi
the punishment مُشْتَرِكُونَmush'tarikūna
sharing ٣٩
And never يَنفَعَكُمُyanfaʿakumu
will benefit you ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawma
the Day إِذidh
when ظَّلَمْتُمْẓalamtum
you have wronged أَنَّكُمْannakum
that you فِىfī
(will be) in ٱلْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābi
the punishment مُشْتَرِكُونَmush'tarikūna
sharing ٣٩
أَفَأَنتَafa-anta
Then can you تُسْمِعُtus'miʿu
cause to hear ٱلصُّمَّl-ṣuma
the deaf أَوْaw
or تَهْدِىtahdī
guide ٱلْعُمْىَl-ʿum'ya
the blind وَمَنwaman
and (one) who كَانَkāna
is فِىfī
in ضَلَـٰلٍۢḍalālin
an error مُّبِينٍۢmubīnin
clear ٤٠
Then can you تُسْمِعُtus'miʿu
cause to hear ٱلصُّمَّl-ṣuma
the deaf أَوْaw
or تَهْدِىtahdī
guide ٱلْعُمْىَl-ʿum'ya
the blind وَمَنwaman
and (one) who كَانَkāna
is فِىfī
in ضَلَـٰلٍۢḍalālin
an error مُّبِينٍۢmubīnin
clear ٤٠
فَإِمَّاfa-immā
And whether نَذْهَبَنَّnadhhabanna
We take you away بِكَbika
We take you away فَإِنَّاfa-innā
then indeed, We مِنْهُمmin'hum
from them مُّنتَقِمُونَmuntaqimūna
(will) take retribution ٤١
And whether نَذْهَبَنَّnadhhabanna
We take you away بِكَbika
We take you away فَإِنَّاfa-innā
then indeed, We مِنْهُمmin'hum
from them مُّنتَقِمُونَmuntaqimūna
(will) take retribution ٤١
أَوْaw
Or نُرِيَنَّكَnuriyannaka
We show you ٱلَّذِىalladhī
that which وَعَدْنَـٰهُمْwaʿadnāhum
We have promised them فَإِنَّاfa-innā
then indeed, We عَلَيْهِمʿalayhim
over them مُّقْتَدِرُونَmuq'tadirūna
have full power ٤٢
Or نُرِيَنَّكَnuriyannaka
We show you ٱلَّذِىalladhī
that which وَعَدْنَـٰهُمْwaʿadnāhum
We have promised them فَإِنَّاfa-innā
then indeed, We عَلَيْهِمʿalayhim
over them مُّقْتَدِرُونَmuq'tadirūna
have full power ٤٢
فَٱسْتَمْسِكْfa-is'tamsik
So hold fast بِٱلَّذِىٓbi-alladhī
to that which أُوحِىَūḥiya
is revealed إِلَيْكَ ۖilayka
to you إِنَّكَinnaka
Indeed, you عَلَىٰʿalā
(are) on صِرَٰطٍۢṣirāṭin
a Path مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢmus'taqīmin
Straight ٤٣
So hold fast بِٱلَّذِىٓbi-alladhī
to that which أُوحِىَūḥiya
is revealed إِلَيْكَ ۖilayka
to you إِنَّكَinnaka
Indeed, you عَلَىٰʿalā
(are) on صِرَٰطٍۢṣirāṭin
a Path مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢmus'taqīmin
Straight ٤٣
وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahu
And indeed, it لَذِكْرٌۭladhik'run
(is) surely, a Reminder لَّكَlaka
for you وَلِقَوْمِكَ ۖwaliqawmika
and your people وَسَوْفَwasawfa
and soon تُسْـَٔلُونَtus'alūna
you will be questioned ٤٤
And indeed, it لَذِكْرٌۭladhik'run
(is) surely, a Reminder لَّكَlaka
for you وَلِقَوْمِكَ ۖwaliqawmika
and your people وَسَوْفَwasawfa
and soon تُسْـَٔلُونَtus'alūna
you will be questioned ٤٤
وَسْـَٔلْwasal
And ask مَنْman
(those) whom أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnā
We sent مِنmin
before you قَبْلِكَqablika
before you مِنmin
of رُّسُلِنَآrusulinā
Our Messengers أَجَعَلْنَاajaʿalnā
did We make مِنmin
besides دُونِdūni
besides ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious ءَالِهَةًۭālihatan
gods يُعْبَدُونَyuʿ'badūna
to be worshipped ٤٥
And ask مَنْman
(those) whom أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnā
We sent مِنmin
before you قَبْلِكَqablika
before you مِنmin
of رُّسُلِنَآrusulinā
Our Messengers أَجَعَلْنَاajaʿalnā
did We make مِنmin
besides دُونِdūni
besides ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious ءَالِهَةًۭālihatan
gods يُعْبَدُونَyuʿ'badūna
to be worshipped ٤٥
وَلَقَدْwalaqad
And certainly أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnā
We sent مُوسَىٰmūsā
Musa بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآbiāyātinā
with Our Signs إِلَىٰilā
to فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna
Firaun وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦwamala-ihi
and his chiefs فَقَالَfaqāla
and he said إِنِّىinnī
Indeed, I am رَسُولُrasūlu
a Messenger رَبِّrabbi
(of the) Lord ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna
(of) the worlds ٤٦
And certainly أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnā
We sent مُوسَىٰmūsā
Musa بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآbiāyātinā
with Our Signs إِلَىٰilā
to فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna
Firaun وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦwamala-ihi
and his chiefs فَقَالَfaqāla
and he said إِنِّىinnī
Indeed, I am رَسُولُrasūlu
a Messenger رَبِّrabbi
(of the) Lord ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna
(of) the worlds ٤٦
فَلَمَّاfalammā
But when جَآءَهُمjāahum
he came to them بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآbiāyātinā
with Our Signs إِذَاidhā
behold هُمhum
They مِّنْهَاmin'hā
at them يَضْحَكُونَyaḍḥakūna
laughed ٤٧
But when جَآءَهُمjāahum
he came to them بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآbiāyātinā
with Our Signs إِذَاidhā
behold هُمhum
They مِّنْهَاmin'hā
at them يَضْحَكُونَyaḍḥakūna
laughed ٤٧
وَمَاwamā
And not نُرِيهِمnurīhim
We showed them مِّنْmin
of ءَايَةٍāyatin
a Sign إِلَّاillā
but هِىَhiya
it أَكْبَرُakbaru
(was) greater مِنْmin
than أُخْتِهَا ۖukh'tihā
its sister وَأَخَذْنَـٰهُمwa-akhadhnāhum
and We seized them بِٱلْعَذَابِbil-ʿadhābi
with the punishment لَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahum
so that they may يَرْجِعُونَyarjiʿūna
return ٤٨
And not نُرِيهِمnurīhim
We showed them مِّنْmin
of ءَايَةٍāyatin
a Sign إِلَّاillā
but هِىَhiya
it أَكْبَرُakbaru
(was) greater مِنْmin
than أُخْتِهَا ۖukh'tihā
its sister وَأَخَذْنَـٰهُمwa-akhadhnāhum
and We seized them بِٱلْعَذَابِbil-ʿadhābi
with the punishment لَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahum
so that they may يَرْجِعُونَyarjiʿūna
return ٤٨
وَقَالُوا۟waqālū
And they said يَـٰٓأَيُّهَyāayyuha
O ٱلسَّاحِرُl-sāḥiru
[the] magician ٱدْعُud'ʿu
Invoke لَنَاlanā
for us رَبَّكَrabbaka
your Lord بِمَاbimā
by what عَهِدَʿahida
He has made covenant عِندَكَʿindaka
with you إِنَّنَاinnanā
Indeed, we لَمُهْتَدُونَlamuh'tadūna
(will) surely be guided ٤٩
And they said يَـٰٓأَيُّهَyāayyuha
O ٱلسَّاحِرُl-sāḥiru
[the] magician ٱدْعُud'ʿu
Invoke لَنَاlanā
for us رَبَّكَrabbaka
your Lord بِمَاbimā
by what عَهِدَʿahida
He has made covenant عِندَكَʿindaka
with you إِنَّنَاinnanā
Indeed, we لَمُهْتَدُونَlamuh'tadūna
(will) surely be guided ٤٩
فَلَمَّاfalammā
But when كَشَفْنَاkashafnā
We removed عَنْهُمُʿanhumu
from them ٱلْعَذَابَl-ʿadhāba
the punishment إِذَاidhā
behold هُمْhum
They يَنكُثُونَyankuthūna
broke (their word) ٥٠
But when كَشَفْنَاkashafnā
We removed عَنْهُمُʿanhumu
from them ٱلْعَذَابَl-ʿadhāba
the punishment إِذَاidhā
behold هُمْhum
They يَنكُثُونَyankuthūna
broke (their word) ٥٠
وَنَادَىٰwanādā
And called out فِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnu
Firaun فِىfī
among قَوْمِهِۦqawmihi
his people قَالَqāla
he said يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmi
O my people أَلَيْسَalaysa
Is not لِىlī
for me مُلْكُmul'ku
(the) kingdom مِصْرَmiṣ'ra
(of) Egypt وَهَـٰذِهِwahādhihi
and these ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُl-anhāru
[the] rivers تَجْرِىtajrī
flowing مِنmin
underneath me تَحْتِىٓ ۖtaḥtī
underneath me أَفَلَاafalā
Then do not تُبْصِرُونَtub'ṣirūna
you see ٥١
And called out فِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnu
Firaun فِىfī
among قَوْمِهِۦqawmihi
his people قَالَqāla
he said يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmi
O my people أَلَيْسَalaysa
Is not لِىlī
for me مُلْكُmul'ku
(the) kingdom مِصْرَmiṣ'ra
(of) Egypt وَهَـٰذِهِwahādhihi
and these ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُl-anhāru
[the] rivers تَجْرِىtajrī
flowing مِنmin
underneath me تَحْتِىٓ ۖtaḥtī
underneath me أَفَلَاafalā
Then do not تُبْصِرُونَtub'ṣirūna
you see ٥١
أَمْam
Or أَنَا۠anā
am I خَيْرٌۭkhayrun
better مِّنْmin
than هَـٰذَاhādhā
this ٱلَّذِىalladhī
one who هُوَhuwa
he مَهِينٌۭmahīnun
(is) insignificant وَلَاwalā
and hardly يَكَادُyakādu
and hardly يُبِينُyubīnu
clear ٥٢
Or أَنَا۠anā
am I خَيْرٌۭkhayrun
better مِّنْmin
than هَـٰذَاhādhā
this ٱلَّذِىalladhī
one who هُوَhuwa
he مَهِينٌۭmahīnun
(is) insignificant وَلَاwalā
and hardly يَكَادُyakādu
and hardly يُبِينُyubīnu
clear ٥٢
فَلَوْلَآfalawlā
Then why not أُلْقِىَul'qiya
are placed عَلَيْهِʿalayhi
on him أَسْوِرَةٌۭaswiratun
bracelets مِّنmin
of ذَهَبٍdhahabin
gold أَوْaw
or جَآءَjāa
come مَعَهُmaʿahu
with him ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُl-malāikatu
the Angels مُقْتَرِنِينَmuq'tarinīna
accompanying (him) ٥٣
Then why not أُلْقِىَul'qiya
are placed عَلَيْهِʿalayhi
on him أَسْوِرَةٌۭaswiratun
bracelets مِّنmin
of ذَهَبٍdhahabin
gold أَوْaw
or جَآءَjāa
come مَعَهُmaʿahu
with him ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُl-malāikatu
the Angels مُقْتَرِنِينَmuq'tarinīna
accompanying (him) ٥٣
فَٱسْتَخَفَّfa-is'takhaffa
So he bluffed قَوْمَهُۥqawmahu
his people فَأَطَاعُوهُ ۚfa-aṭāʿūhu
and they obeyed him إِنَّهُمْinnahum
Indeed, they كَانُوا۟kānū
were قَوْمًۭاqawman
a people فَـٰسِقِينَfāsiqīna
defiantly disobedient ٥٤
So he bluffed قَوْمَهُۥqawmahu
his people فَأَطَاعُوهُ ۚfa-aṭāʿūhu
and they obeyed him إِنَّهُمْinnahum
Indeed, they كَانُوا۟kānū
were قَوْمًۭاqawman
a people فَـٰسِقِينَfāsiqīna
defiantly disobedient ٥٤
فَلَمَّآfalammā
So when ءَاسَفُونَاāsafūnā
they angered Us ٱنتَقَمْنَاintaqamnā
We took retribution مِنْهُمْmin'hum
from them فَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُمْfa-aghraqnāhum
and We drowned them أَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīna
all ٥٥
So when ءَاسَفُونَاāsafūnā
they angered Us ٱنتَقَمْنَاintaqamnā
We took retribution مِنْهُمْmin'hum
from them فَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُمْfa-aghraqnāhum
and We drowned them أَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīna
all ٥٥
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْfajaʿalnāhum
And We made them سَلَفًۭاsalafan
a precedent وَمَثَلًۭاwamathalan
and an example لِّلْـَٔاخِرِينَlil'ākhirīna
for the later (generations) ٥٦
And We made them سَلَفًۭاsalafan
a precedent وَمَثَلًۭاwamathalan
and an example لِّلْـَٔاخِرِينَlil'ākhirīna
for the later (generations) ٥٦
۞ وَلَمَّاwalammā
And when ضُرِبَḍuriba
is presented ٱبْنُub'nu
(the) son مَرْيَمَmaryama
(of) Maryam مَثَلًاmathalan
(as) an example إِذَاidhā
behold قَوْمُكَqawmuka
Your people مِنْهُmin'hu
about it يَصِدُّونَyaṣiddūna
laughed aloud ٥٧
And when ضُرِبَḍuriba
is presented ٱبْنُub'nu
(the) son مَرْيَمَmaryama
(of) Maryam مَثَلًاmathalan
(as) an example إِذَاidhā
behold قَوْمُكَqawmuka
Your people مِنْهُmin'hu
about it يَصِدُّونَyaṣiddūna

وَقَالُوٓا۟waqālū
And they said ءَأَـٰلِهَتُنَاaālihatunā
Are our gods خَيْرٌkhayrun
better أَمْam
or هُوَ ۚhuwa
he مَاmā
Not ضَرَبُوهُḍarabūhu
they present it لَكَlaka
to you إِلَّاillā
except جَدَلًۢا ۚjadalan
(for) argument بَلْbal
Nay هُمْhum
they قَوْمٌqawmun
(are) a people خَصِمُونَkhaṣimūna
argumentative ٥٨
And they said ءَأَـٰلِهَتُنَاaālihatunā
Are our gods خَيْرٌkhayrun
better أَمْam
or هُوَ ۚhuwa
he مَاmā
Not ضَرَبُوهُḍarabūhu
they present it لَكَlaka
to you إِلَّاillā
except جَدَلًۢا ۚjadalan
(for) argument بَلْbal
Nay هُمْhum
they قَوْمٌqawmun
(are) a people خَصِمُونَkhaṣimūna
argumentative ٥٨
إِنْin
Not هُوَhuwa
he إِلَّاillā
(was) except عَبْدٌʿabdun
a slave أَنْعَمْنَاanʿamnā
We bestowed Our favor عَلَيْهِʿalayhi
on him وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُwajaʿalnāhu
and We made him مَثَلًۭاmathalan
an example لِّبَنِىٓlibanī
for (the) Children of Israel إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla
for (the) Children of Israel ٥٩
Not هُوَhuwa
he إِلَّاillā
(was) except عَبْدٌʿabdun
a slave أَنْعَمْنَاanʿamnā
We bestowed Our favor عَلَيْهِʿalayhi
on him وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُwajaʿalnāhu
and We made him مَثَلًۭاmathalan
an example لِّبَنِىٓlibanī
for (the) Children of Israel إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla
for (the) Children of Israel ٥٩
وَلَوْwalaw
And if نَشَآءُnashāu
We willed لَجَعَلْنَاlajaʿalnā
surely We (could have) made مِنكُمminkum
among you مَّلَـٰٓئِكَةًۭmalāikatan
Angels فِىfī
in ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍi
the earth يَخْلُفُونَyakhlufūna
succeeding ٦٠
And if نَشَآءُnashāu
We willed لَجَعَلْنَاlajaʿalnā
surely We (could have) made مِنكُمminkum
among you مَّلَـٰٓئِكَةًۭmalāikatan
Angels فِىfī
in ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍi
the earth يَخْلُفُونَyakhlufūna
succeeding ٦٠
وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahu
And indeed, it لَعِلْمٌۭlaʿil'mun
surely (is) a knowledge لِّلسَّاعَةِlilssāʿati
of the Hour فَلَاfalā
So (do) not تَمْتَرُنَّtamtarunna
(be) doubtful بِهَاbihā
about it وَٱتَّبِعُونِ ۚwa-ittabiʿūni
and follow Me هَـٰذَاhādhā
This صِرَٰطٌۭṣirāṭun
(is the) Path مُّسْتَقِيمٌۭmus'taqīmun
Straight ٦١
And indeed, it لَعِلْمٌۭlaʿil'mun
surely (is) a knowledge لِّلسَّاعَةِlilssāʿati
of the Hour فَلَاfalā
So (do) not تَمْتَرُنَّtamtarunna
(be) doubtful بِهَاbihā
about it وَٱتَّبِعُونِ ۚwa-ittabiʿūni
and follow Me هَـٰذَاhādhā
This صِرَٰطٌۭṣirāṭun
(is the) Path مُّسْتَقِيمٌۭmus'taqīmun
Straight ٦١
وَلَاwalā
And (let) not يَصُدَّنَّكُمُyaṣuddannakumu
avert you ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ ۖl-shayṭānu
the Shaitaan إِنَّهُۥinnahu
Indeed, he لَكُمْlakum
(is) for you عَدُوٌّۭʿaduwwun
an enemy مُّبِينٌۭmubīnun
clear ٦٢
And (let) not يَصُدَّنَّكُمُyaṣuddannakumu
avert you ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ ۖl-shayṭānu
the Shaitaan إِنَّهُۥinnahu
Indeed, he لَكُمْlakum
(is) for you عَدُوٌّۭʿaduwwun
an enemy مُّبِينٌۭmubīnun
clear ٦٢
وَلَمَّاwalammā
And when جَآءَjāa
came عِيسَىٰʿīsā
Isa بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِbil-bayināti
with clear proofs قَالَqāla
he said قَدْqad
Verily جِئْتُكُمji'tukum
I have come to you بِٱلْحِكْمَةِbil-ḥik'mati
with wisdom وَلِأُبَيِّنَwali-ubayyina
and that I make clear لَكُمlakum
to you بَعْضَbaʿḍa
some ٱلَّذِىalladhī
(of) that which تَخْتَلِفُونَtakhtalifūna
you differ فِيهِ ۖfīhi
in it فَٱتَّقُوا۟fa-ittaqū
So fear ٱللَّهَl-laha
Allah وَأَطِيعُونِwa-aṭīʿūni
and obey me ٦٣
And when جَآءَjāa
came عِيسَىٰʿīsā
Isa بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِbil-bayināti

he said قَدْqad

(is) my Lord وَرَبُّكُمْwarabbukum

This صِرَٰطٌۭṣirāṭun
(is) a Path مُّسْتَقِيمٌۭmus'taqīmun
Straight ٦٤
Indeed ٱللَّهَl-laha
Allah هُوَhuwa
He رَبِّىrabbī
(is) my Lord وَرَبُّكُمْwarabbukum
and your Lord فَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۚfa-uʿ'budūhu
so worship Him هَـٰذَاhādhā
This صِرَٰطٌۭṣirāṭun
(is) a Path مُّسْتَقِيمٌۭmus'taqīmun
Straight ٦٤
فَٱخْتَلَفَfa-ikh'talafa
But differed ٱلْأَحْزَابُl-aḥzābu
the factions مِنۢmin
from بَيْنِهِمْ ۖbaynihim
among them فَوَيْلٌۭfawaylun
so woe لِّلَّذِينَlilladhīna
to those who ظَلَمُوا۟ẓalamū
wronged مِنْmin
from عَذَابِʿadhābi
(the) punishment يَوْمٍyawmin
(of the) Day أَلِيمٍalīmin
painful ٦٥
But differed ٱلْأَحْزَابُl-aḥzābu
the factions مِنۢmin
from بَيْنِهِمْ ۖbaynihim
among them فَوَيْلٌۭfawaylun
so woe لِّلَّذِينَlilladhīna
to those who ظَلَمُوا۟ẓalamū
wronged مِنْmin
from عَذَابِʿadhābi
(the) punishment يَوْمٍyawmin
(of the) Day أَلِيمٍalīmin
painful ٦٥
هَلْhal
Are يَنظُرُونَyanẓurūna
they waiting إِلَّاillā
except ٱلسَّاعَةَl-sāʿata
(for) the Hour أَنan
that تَأْتِيَهُمtatiyahum
it should come on them بَغْتَةًۭbaghtatan
suddenly وَهُمْwahum
while they لَاlā
(do) not يَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūna
perceive ٦٦
Are يَنظُرُونَyanẓurūna
they waiting إِلَّاillā
except ٱلسَّاعَةَl-sāʿata
(for) the Hour أَنan
that تَأْتِيَهُمtatiyahum
it should come on them بَغْتَةًۭbaghtatan
suddenly وَهُمْwahum
while they لَاlā
(do) not يَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūna
perceive ٦٦
ٱلْأَخِلَّآءُal-akhilāu
Friends يَوْمَئِذٍۭyawma-idhin
that Day بَعْضُهُمْbaʿḍuhum
some of them لِبَعْضٍlibaʿḍin
to others عَدُوٌّʿaduwwun
(will be) enemies إِلَّاillā
except ٱلْمُتَّقِينَl-mutaqīna
the righteous ٦٧
Friends يَوْمَئِذٍۭyawma-idhin
that Day بَعْضُهُمْbaʿḍuhum
some of them لِبَعْضٍlibaʿḍin
to others عَدُوٌّʿaduwwun
(will be) enemies إِلَّاillā
except ٱلْمُتَّقِينَl-mutaqīna
the righteous ٦٧
يَـٰعِبَادِyāʿibādi
O My slaves لَاlā
No خَوْفٌkhawfun
fear عَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumu
on you ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawma
this Day وَلَآwalā
and not أَنتُمْantum
you تَحْزَنُونَtaḥzanūna
will grieve ٦٨
O My slaves لَاlā
No خَوْفٌkhawfun
fear عَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumu
on you ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawma
this Day وَلَآwalā
and not أَنتُمْantum
you تَحْزَنُونَtaḥzanūna
will grieve ٦٨
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna
Those who ءَامَنُوا۟āmanū
believed بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَاbiāyātinā
in Our Verses وَكَانُوا۟wakānū
and were مُسْلِمِينَmus'limīna
submissive ٦٩
Those who ءَامَنُوا۟āmanū
believed بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَاbiāyātinā
in Our Verses وَكَانُوا۟wakānū
and were مُسْلِمِينَmus'limīna
submissive ٦٩
ٱدْخُلُوا۟ud'khulū
Enter ٱلْجَنَّةَl-janata
Paradise أَنتُمْantum
you وَأَزْوَٰجُكُمْwa-azwājukum
and your spouses تُحْبَرُونَtuḥ'barūna
delighted ٧٠
Enter ٱلْجَنَّةَl-janata
Paradise أَنتُمْantum
you وَأَزْوَٰجُكُمْwa-azwājukum
and your spouses تُحْبَرُونَtuḥ'barūna
delighted ٧٠
يُطَافُyuṭāfu
Will be circulated عَلَيْهِمʿalayhim
for them بِصِحَافٍۢbiṣiḥāfin
plates مِّنmin
of ذَهَبٍۢdhahabin
gold وَأَكْوَابٍۢ ۖwa-akwābin
and cups وَفِيهَاwafīhā
And therein مَاmā
(is) what تَشْتَهِيهِtashtahīhi
desires ٱلْأَنفُسُl-anfusu
the souls وَتَلَذُّwataladhu
and delights ٱلْأَعْيُنُ ۖl-aʿyunu
the eyes وَأَنتُمْwa-antum
and you فِيهَاfīhā
therein خَـٰلِدُونَkhālidūna
will abide forever ٧١
Will be circulated عَلَيْهِمʿalayhim
for them بِصِحَافٍۢbiṣiḥāfin
plates مِّنmin
of ذَهَبٍۢdhahabin
gold وَأَكْوَابٍۢ ۖwa-akwābin
and cups وَفِيهَاwafīhā
And therein مَاmā
(is) what تَشْتَهِيهِtashtahīhi
desires ٱلْأَنفُسُl-anfusu
the souls وَتَلَذُّwataladhu
and delights ٱلْأَعْيُنُ ۖl-aʿyunu
the eyes وَأَنتُمْwa-antum
and you فِيهَاfīhā
therein خَـٰلِدُونَkhālidūna
will abide forever ٧١
وَتِلْكَwatil'ka
And this ٱلْجَنَّةُl-janatu
(is) the Paradise ٱلَّتِىٓallatī
which أُورِثْتُمُوهَاūrith'tumūhā
you are made to inherit بِمَاbimā
for what كُنتُمْkuntum
you used to تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūna
do ٧٢
And this ٱلْجَنَّةُl-janatu
(is) the Paradise ٱلَّتِىٓallatī
which أُورِثْتُمُوهَاūrith'tumūhā
you are made to inherit بِمَاbimā
for what كُنتُمْkuntum
you used to تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūna
do ٧٢
لَكُمْlakum
For you فِيهَاfīhā
therein فَـٰكِهَةٌۭfākihatun
(are) fruits كَثِيرَةٌۭkathīratun
abundant مِّنْهَاmin'hā
from it تَأْكُلُونَtakulūna
you will eat ٧٣
For you فِيهَاfīhā
therein فَـٰكِهَةٌۭfākihatun
(are) fruits كَثِيرَةٌۭkathīratun
abundant مِّنْهَاmin'hā
from it تَأْكُلُونَtakulūna
you will eat ٧٣
إِنَّinna
Indeed ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَl-muj'rimīna
the criminals فِىfī
(will be) in عَذَابِʿadhābi
(the) punishment جَهَنَّمَjahannama
(of) Hell خَـٰلِدُونَkhālidūna
abiding forever ٧٤
Indeed ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَl-muj'rimīna
the criminals فِىfī
(will be) in عَذَابِʿadhābi
(the) punishment جَهَنَّمَjahannama
(of) Hell خَـٰلِدُونَkhālidūna
abiding forever ٧٤
لَاlā
Not يُفَتَّرُyufattaru
will it subside عَنْهُمْʿanhum
for them وَهُمْwahum
and they فِيهِfīhi
in it مُبْلِسُونَmub'lisūna
(will) despair ٧٥
Not يُفَتَّرُyufattaru
will it subside عَنْهُمْʿanhum
for them وَهُمْwahum
and they فِيهِfīhi
in it مُبْلِسُونَmub'lisūna
(will) despair ٧٥
وَمَاwamā
And not ظَلَمْنَـٰهُمْẓalamnāhum
We wronged them وَلَـٰكِنwalākin
but كَانُوا۟kānū
they were هُمُhumu
themselves ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīna
wrongdoers ٧٦
And not ظَلَمْنَـٰهُمْẓalamnāhum
We wronged them وَلَـٰكِنwalākin
but كَانُوا۟kānū
they were هُمُhumu
themselves ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīna
wrongdoers ٧٦
وَنَادَوْا۟wanādaw
And they will call يَـٰمَـٰلِكُyāmāliku
O Malik لِيَقْضِliyaqḍi
Let put an end عَلَيْنَاʿalaynā
to us رَبُّكَ ۖrabbuka
your Lord قَالَqāla
He (will) say إِنَّكُمinnakum
Indeed, you مَّـٰكِثُونَmākithūna
(will) remain ٧٧
And they will call يَـٰمَـٰلِكُyāmāliku
O Malik لِيَقْضِliyaqḍi
Let put an end عَلَيْنَاʿalaynā
to us رَبُّكَ ۖrabbuka
your Lord قَالَqāla
He (will) say إِنَّكُمinnakum
Indeed, you مَّـٰكِثُونَmākithūna
(will) remain ٧٧
لَقَدْlaqad
Certainly جِئْنَـٰكُمji'nākum
We have brought you بِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqi
the truth وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinna
but أَكْثَرَكُمْaktharakum
most of you لِلْحَقِّlil'ḥaqqi
to the truth كَـٰرِهُونَkārihūna
(are) averse ٧٨
Certainly جِئْنَـٰكُمji'nākum
We have brought you بِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqi
the truth وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinna
but أَكْثَرَكُمْaktharakum
most of you لِلْحَقِّlil'ḥaqqi
to the truth كَـٰرِهُونَkārihūna
(are) averse ٧٨
أَمْam
Or أَبْرَمُوٓا۟abramū
have they determined أَمْرًۭاamran
an affair فَإِنَّاfa-innā
Then indeed, We مُبْرِمُونَmub'rimūna
(are) determined ٧٩
Or أَبْرَمُوٓا۟abramū
have they determined أَمْرًۭاamran
an affair فَإِنَّاfa-innā
Then indeed, We مُبْرِمُونَmub'rimūna
(are) determined ٧٩
أَمْam
Or يَحْسَبُونَyaḥsabūna
(do) they think أَنَّاannā
that We لَاlā
(can) not نَسْمَعُnasmaʿu
hear سِرَّهُمْsirrahum
their secret(s) وَنَجْوَىٰهُم ۚwanajwāhum
and their private counsel(s) بَلَىٰbalā
Nay وَرُسُلُنَاwarusulunā
and Our Messengers لَدَيْهِمْladayhim
with them يَكْتُبُونَyaktubūna
are recording ٨٠
Or يَحْسَبُونَyaḥsabūna
(do) they think أَنَّاannā
that We لَاlā
(can) not نَسْمَعُnasmaʿu
hear سِرَّهُمْsirrahum
their secret(s) وَنَجْوَىٰهُم ۚwanajwāhum
and their private counsel(s) بَلَىٰbalā
Nay وَرُسُلُنَاwarusulunā
and Our Messengers لَدَيْهِمْladayhim
with them يَكْتُبُونَyaktubūna
are recording ٨٠
قُلْqul
Say إِنin
If كَانَkāna
had لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِlilrraḥmāni
the Most Gracious وَلَدٌۭwaladun
a son فَأَنَا۠fa-anā
Then, I أَوَّلُawwalu
(would be the) first ٱلْعَـٰبِدِينَl-ʿābidīna
(of) the worshippers ٨١
Say إِنin
If كَانَkāna
had لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِlilrraḥmāni
the Most Gracious وَلَدٌۭwaladun
a son فَأَنَا۠fa-anā
Then, I أَوَّلُawwalu
(would be the) first ٱلْعَـٰبِدِينَl-ʿābidīna
(of) the worshippers ٨١
سُبْحَـٰنَsub'ḥāna
Glory be رَبِّrabbi
(to the) Lord ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti
(of) the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍi
and the earth رَبِّrabbi
(the) Lord ٱلْعَرْشِl-ʿarshi
(of) the Throne عَمَّاʿammā
above what يَصِفُونَyaṣifūna
they ascribe ٨٢
Glory be رَبِّrabbi
(to the) Lord ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti
(of) the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍi
and the earth رَبِّrabbi
(the) Lord ٱلْعَرْشِl-ʿarshi
(of) the Throne عَمَّاʿammā
above what يَصِفُونَyaṣifūna
they ascribe ٨٢
فَذَرْهُمْfadharhum
So leave them يَخُوضُوا۟yakhūḍū
(to) converse vainly وَيَلْعَبُوا۟wayalʿabū
and play حَتَّىٰḥattā
until يُلَـٰقُوا۟yulāqū
they meet يَوْمَهُمُyawmahumu
their Day ٱلَّذِىalladhī
which يُوعَدُونَyūʿadūna
they are promised ٨٣
So leave them يَخُوضُوا۟yakhūḍū
(to) converse vainly وَيَلْعَبُوا۟wayalʿabū
and play حَتَّىٰḥattā
until يُلَـٰقُوا۟yulāqū
they meet يَوْمَهُمُyawmahumu
their Day ٱلَّذِىalladhī
which يُوعَدُونَyūʿadūna
they are promised ٨٣
وَهُوَwahuwa
And He ٱلَّذِىalladhī
(is) the One Who فِىfī
(is) in ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāi
the heaven إِلَـٰهٌۭilāhun
God وَفِىwafī
and in ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍi
the earth إِلَـٰهٌۭ ۚilāhun
God وَهُوَwahuwa
And He ٱلْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmu
(is) the All-Wise ٱلْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmu
the All-Knower ٨٤
And He ٱلَّذِىalladhī
(is) the One Who فِىfī
(is) in ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāi
the heaven إِلَـٰهٌۭilāhun
God وَفِىwafī
and in ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍi
the earth إِلَـٰهٌۭ ۚilāhun
God وَهُوَwahuwa
And He ٱلْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmu
(is) the All-Wise ٱلْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmu
the All-Knower ٨٤
وَتَبَارَكَwatabāraka
And blessed (is) ٱلَّذِىalladhī
the One Who لَهُۥlahu
to Whom مُلْكُmul'ku
(belongs the) dominion ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti
(of) the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍi
and the earth وَمَاwamā
and whatever بَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumā
(is) between both of them وَعِندَهُۥwaʿindahu
and with Him عِلْمُʿil'mu
(is the) knowledge ٱلسَّاعَةِl-sāʿati
(of) the Hour وَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhi
and to Him تُرْجَعُونَtur'jaʿūna
you will be returned ٨٥
And blessed (is) ٱلَّذِىalladhī
the One Who لَهُۥlahu
to Whom مُلْكُmul'ku
(belongs the) dominion ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti
(of) the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍi
and the earth وَمَاwamā
and whatever بَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumā

And not يَمْلِكُyamliku
have power ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna
those whom يَدْعُونَyadʿūna
they invoke مِنmin
besides Him دُونِهِdūnihi
besides Him ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةَl-shafāʿata
(for) the intercession إِلَّاillā
except مَنman
who شَهِدَshahida
testifies بِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqi
to the truth وَهُمْwahum
and they يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūna
know ٨٦
And not يَمْلِكُyamliku
have power ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna
those whom يَدْعُونَyadʿūna

besides Him دُونِهِdūnihi
besides Him ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةَl-shafāʿata

who خَلَقَهُمْkhalaqahum
created them لَيَقُولُنَّlayaqūlunna
they will certainly say ٱللَّهُ ۖl-lahu
Allah فَأَنَّىٰfa-annā
Then how يُؤْفَكُونَyu'fakūna
are they deluded ٨٧
And if سَأَلْتَهُمsa-altahum
you ask them مَّنْman
who خَلَقَهُمْkhalaqahum
created them لَيَقُولُنَّlayaqūlunna
they will certainly say ٱللَّهُ ۖl-lahu
Allah فَأَنَّىٰfa-annā
Then how يُؤْفَكُونَyu'fakūna
are they deluded ٨٧
وَقِيلِهِۦwaqīlihi
And his saying يَـٰرَبِّyārabbi
O my Lord إِنَّinna
Indeed هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāi
these قَوْمٌۭqawmun
(are) a people لَّاlā
(who do) not يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūna
believe ٨٨
And his saying يَـٰرَبِّyārabbi

Indeed هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāi
these قَوْمٌۭqawmun
(are) a people لَّاlā
(who do) not يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūna
believe ٨٨
فَٱصْفَحْfa-iṣ'faḥ
So turn away عَنْهُمْʿanhum
from them وَقُلْwaqul
and say سَلَـٰمٌۭ ۚsalāmun
Peace فَسَوْفَfasawfa
But soon يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūna
they will know ٨٩
So turn away عَنْهُمْʿanhum

Peace فَسَوْفَfasawfa
