بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
wal-kitābi
By the Book
l-mubīni
the clear
۝٢
By the clear Book,
innā
Indeed, We
jaʿalnāhu
(have) made it
qur'ānan
a Quran
ʿarabiyyan
(in) Arabic
laʿallakum
so that you may
taʿqilūna
understand
۝٣
Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur’ān that you might understand.
wa-innahu
And indeed, it
fī
(is) in
ummi
(the) Mother
l-kitābi
(of) the Book
ladaynā
with Us
laʿaliyyun
surely exalted
ḥakīmun
full of wisdom
۝٤
And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom.
afanaḍribu
Then should We take away
ʿankumu
from you
l-dhik'ra
the Reminder
ṣafḥan
disregarding (you)
an
because
kuntum
you are
qawman
a people
mus'rifīna
transgressing
۝٥
Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people?
wakam
And how many
arsalnā
We sent
min
of
nabiyyin
a Prophet
fī
among
l-awalīna
the former (people)
۝٦
And how many a prophet We sent among the former peoples,
wamā
And not
yatīhim
came to them
min
any Prophet
nabiyyin
any Prophet
illā
but
kānū
they used to
bihi
mock at him
yastahziūna
mock at him
۝٧
But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him.
fa-ahlaknā
Then We destroyed
ashadda
stronger
min'hum
than them
baṭshan
(in) power
wamaḍā
and has passed
mathalu
(the) example
l-awalīna
(of) the former (people)
۝٨
And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded.
wala-in
And if
sa-altahum
you ask them
man
Who
khalaqa
created
l-samāwāti
the heavens
wal-arḍa
and the earth
layaqūlunna
They will surely say
khalaqahunna
Created them
l-ʿazīzu
the All-Mighty
l-ʿalīmu
the All-Knower
۝٩
And if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "They were created by the Exalted in Might, the Knowing,"
alladhī
The One Who
jaʿala
made
lakumu
for you
l-arḍa
the earth
mahdan
a bed
wajaʿala
and made
lakum
for you
fīhā
therein
subulan
roads
laʿallakum
so that you may
tahtadūna
(be) guided
۝١٠
[The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided
wa-alladhī
And the One Who
nazzala
sends down
mina
from
l-samāi
the sky
māan
water
biqadarin
in (due) measure
fa-ansharnā
then We revive
bihi
with it
baldatan
a land
maytan
dead
kadhālika
thus
tukh'rajūna
you will be brought forth
۝١١
And who sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts, and We revive thereby a dead land - thus will you be brought forth -
wa-alladhī
And the One Who
khalaqa
created
l-azwāja
the pairs
kullahā
all of them
wajaʿala
and made
lakum
for you
mina
[of]
l-ful'ki
the ships
wal-anʿāmi
and the cattle
mā
what
tarkabūna
you ride
۝١٢
And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount
litastawū
That you may sit firmly
ʿalā
on
ẓuhūrihi
their backs
thumma
then
tadhkurū
remember
niʿ'mata
(the) favor
rabbikum
(of) your Lord
idhā
when
is'tawaytum
you sit firmly
ʿalayhi
on them
wataqūlū
and say
sub'ḥāna
Glory be (to)
alladhī
the One Who
sakhara
(has) subjected
lanā
to us
hādhā
this
wamā
and not
kunnā
we were
lahu
of it
muq'rinīna
capable
۝١٣
That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say, "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it.
wa-innā
And indeed, we
ilā
to
rabbinā
our Lord
lamunqalibūna
will surely return
۝١٤
And indeed we, to our Lord, will [surely] return."
wajaʿalū
But they attribute
lahu
to Him
min
from
ʿibādihi
His slaves
juz'an
a portion
inna
Indeed
l-insāna
man
lakafūrun
surely (is) clearly ungrateful
mubīnun
surely (is) clearly ungrateful
۝١٥
But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful.
ami
Or
ittakhadha
has He taken
mimmā
of what
yakhluqu
He has created
banātin
daughters
wa-aṣfākum
and He has chosen (for) you
bil-banīna
sons
۝١٦
Or has He taken, out of what He has created, daughters and chosen you for [having] sons?
wa-idhā
And when
bushira
is given good news
aḥaduhum
(to) one of them
bimā
of what
ḍaraba
he sets up
lilrraḥmāni
for the Most Gracious
mathalan
(as) a likeness
ẓalla
becomes
wajhuhu
his face
mus'waddan
dark
wahuwa
and he
kaẓīmun
(is) filled with grief
۝١٧
And when one of them is given good tidings of that which he attributes to the Most Merciful in comparison [i.e., a daughter], his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.
awaman
Then (is one) who
yunasha-u
is brought up
fī
in
l-ḥil'yati
ornaments
wahuwa
and he
fī
in
l-khiṣāmi
the dispute
ghayru
(is) not
mubīnin
clear
۝١٨
So is one brought up in ornaments while being during conflict unevident [attributed to Allāh]?
wajaʿalū
And they made
l-malāikata
the Angels
alladhīna
those who
hum
themselves
ʿibādu
(are) slaves
l-raḥmāni
(of) the Most Gracious
ināthan
females
ashahidū
Did they witness
khalqahum
their creation
satuk'tabu
Will be recorded
shahādatuhum
their testimony
wayus'alūna
and they will be questioned
۝١٩
And they described the angels, who are servants of the Most Merciful, as females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned.
waqālū
And they say
law
If
shāa
had willed
l-raḥmānu
the Most Gracious
mā
we would not have worshipped them
ʿabadnāhum
we would not have worshipped them
mā
Not
lahum
they have
bidhālika
about that
min
any
ʿil'min
knowledge
in
Nothing
hum
they (do)
illā
but
yakhruṣūna
lie
۝٢٠
And they said, "If the Most Merciful had willed, we would not have worshipped them." They have of that no knowledge. They are not but misjudging.
am
Or
ātaynāhum
have We given them
kitāban
a book
min
before it
qablihi
before it
fahum
so they
bihi
to it
mus'tamsikūna
(are) holding fast
۝٢١
Or have We given them a book before it [i.e., the Qur’ān] to which they are adhering?
bal
Nay
qālū
they say
innā
Indeed, we
wajadnā
[we] found
ābāanā
our forefathers
ʿalā
upon
ummatin
a religion
wa-innā
and indeed, we
ʿalā
on
āthārihim
their footsteps
muh'tadūna
(are) guided
۝٢٢
Rather, they say, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are in their footsteps [rightly] guided."
wakadhālika
And thus
mā
not
arsalnā
We sent
min
before you
qablika
before you
fī
in
qaryatin
a town
min
any
nadhīrin
warner
illā
except
qāla
said
mut'rafūhā
(the) wealthy ones of it
innā
Indeed, we
wajadnā
[we] found
ābāanā
our forefathers
ʿalā
on
ummatin
a religion
wa-innā
and indeed, we
ʿalā
[on]
āthārihim
their footsteps
muq'tadūna
(are) following
۝٢٣
And similarly, We did not send before you any warner into a city except that its affluent said, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are, in their footsteps, following."
qāla
He said
awalaw
Even if
ji'tukum
I brought you
bi-ahdā
better guidance
mimmā
than what
wajadttum
you found
ʿalayhi
on it
ābāakum
your forefathers
qālū
They said
innā
Indeed, we
bimā
with what
ur'sil'tum
you are sent
bihi
with [it]
kāfirūna
(are) disbelievers
۝٢٤
[Each warner] said, "Even if I brought you better guidance than that [religion] upon which you found your fathers?" They said, "Indeed we, in that with which you were sent, are disbelievers."
fa-intaqamnā
So We took retribution
min'hum
from them
fa-unẓur
Then see
kayfa
how
kāna
was
ʿāqibatu
(the) end
l-mukadhibīna
(of) the deniers
۝٢٥
So We took retribution from them; then see how was the end of the deniers.
wa-idh
And when
qāla
Ibrahim Said
ib'rāhīmu
Ibrahim Said
li-abīhi
to his father
waqawmihi
and his people
innanī
Indeed, I (am)
barāon
disassociated
mimmā
from what
taʿbudūna
you worship
۝٢٦
And [mention, O Muḥammad], when Abraham said to his father and his people, "Indeed, I am disassociated from that which you worship
illā
Except
alladhī
the One Who
faṭaranī
created me
fa-innahu
and indeed, He
sayahdīni
will guide me
۝٢٧
Except for He who created me; and indeed, He will guide me."
wajaʿalahā
And he made it
kalimatan
a word
bāqiyatan
lasting
fī
among
ʿaqibihi
his descendents
laʿallahum
so that they may
yarjiʿūna
return
۝٢٨
And he made it a word remaining among his descendants that they might return [to it].
bal
Nay
mattaʿtu
I gave enjoyment
hāulāi
(to) these
waābāahum
and their forefathers
ḥattā
until
jāahumu
came to them
l-ḥaqu
the truth
warasūlun
and a Messenger
mubīnun
clear
۝٢٩
However, I gave enjoyment to these [people of Makkah] and their fathers until there came to them the truth and a clear Messenger.
walammā
And when
jāahumu
came to them
l-ḥaqu
the truth
qālū
they said
hādhā
This
siḥ'run
(is) magic
wa-innā
and indeed, we
bihi
of it
kāfirūna
(are) disbelievers
۝٣٠
But when the truth came to them, they said, "This is magic, and indeed we are, concerning it, disbelievers."
waqālū
And they say
lawlā
Why not
nuzzila
was sent down
hādhā
this
l-qur'ānu
the Quran
ʿalā
to
rajulin
a man
mina
from
l-qaryatayni
the two towns
ʿaẓīmin
great
۝٣١
And they said, "Why was this Qur’ān not sent down upon a great man from [one of] the two cities?"
ahum
Do they
yaqsimūna
distribute
raḥmata
(the) Mercy
rabbika
(of) your Lord
naḥnu
We
qasamnā
[We] distribute
baynahum
among them
maʿīshatahum
their livelihood
fī
in
l-ḥayati
the life
l-dun'yā
(of) the world
warafaʿnā
and We raise
baʿḍahum
some of them
fawqa
above
baʿḍin
others
darajātin
(in) degrees
liyattakhidha
so that may take
baʿḍuhum
some of them
baʿḍan
others
sukh'riyyan
(for) service
waraḥmatu
But (the) Mercy
rabbika
(of) your Lord
khayrun
(is) better
mimmā
than what
yajmaʿūna
they accumulate
۝٣٢
Do they distribute the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of this world and have raised some of them above others in degrees [of rank] that they may make use of one another for service. But the mercy of your Lord is better than whatever they accumulate.
walawlā
And if not
an
that
yakūna
(would) become
l-nāsu
[the] mankind
ummatan
a community
wāḥidatan
one
lajaʿalnā
We (would have) made
liman
for (one) who
yakfuru
disbelieves
bil-raḥmāni
in the Most Gracious
libuyūtihim
for their houses
suqufan
roofs
min
of
fiḍḍatin
silver
wamaʿārija
and stairways
ʿalayhā
upon which
yaẓharūna
they mount
۝٣٣
And if it were not that the people would become one community [of disbelievers], We would have made for those who disbelieve in the Most Merciful - for their houses - ceilings and stairways of silver upon which to mount.
walibuyūtihim
And for their houses
abwāban
doors
wasururan
and couches
ʿalayhā
upon which
yattakiūna
they recline
۝٣٤
And for their houses - doors and couches [of silver] upon which to recline
wazukh'rufan
And ornaments of gold
wa-in
And not (is)
kullu
all
dhālika
that
lammā
but
matāʿu
an enjoyment
l-ḥayati
(of) the life
l-dun'yā
(of) the world
wal-ākhiratu
And the Hereafter
ʿinda
with
rabbika
your Lord
lil'muttaqīna
(is) for the righteous
۝٣٥
And gold ornament. But all that is not but the enjoyment of worldly life. And the Hereafter with your Lord is for the righteous.
waman
And whoever
yaʿshu
turns away
ʿan
from
dhik'ri
(the) remembrance
l-raḥmāni
(of) the Most Gracious
nuqayyiḍ
We appoint
lahu
for him
shayṭānan
a devil
fahuwa
then he
lahu
(is) to him
qarīnun
a companion
۝٣٦
And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion.
wa-innahum
And indeed, they
layaṣuddūnahum
surely, turn them
ʿani
from
l-sabīli
the Path
wayaḥsabūna
and they think
annahum
that they
muh'tadūna
(are) guided
۝٣٧
And indeed, they [i.e., the devils] avert them from the way [of guidance] while they think that they are [rightly] guided
ḥattā
Until
idhā
when
jāanā
he comes to Us
qāla
he says
yālayta
O would that
baynī
between me
wabaynaka
and between you
buʿ'da
(were the) distance
l-mashriqayni
(of) the East and the West
fabi'sa
How wretched is
l-qarīnu
the companion
۝٣٨
Until, when he comes to Us [at Judgement], he says [to his companion], "How I wish there was between me and you the distance between the east and west; and what a wretched companion."
walan
And never
yanfaʿakumu
will benefit you
l-yawma
the Day
idh
when
ẓalamtum
you have wronged
annakum
that you
fī
(will be) in
l-ʿadhābi
the punishment
mush'tarikūna
sharing
۝٣٩
And never will it benefit you that Day, when you have wronged, that you are [all] sharing in the punishment.
afa-anta
Then can you
tus'miʿu
cause to hear
l-ṣuma
the deaf
aw
or
tahdī
guide
l-ʿum'ya
the blind
waman
and (one) who
kāna
is
fī
in
ḍalālin
an error
mubīnin
clear
۝٤٠
Then will you make the deaf hear, [O Muḥammad], or guide the blind or he who is in clear error?
fa-immā
And whether
nadhhabanna
We take you away
bika
We take you away
fa-innā
then indeed, We
min'hum
from them
muntaqimūna
(will) take retribution
۝٤١
And whether [or not] We take you away [in death], indeed, We will take retribution upon them.
aw
Or
nuriyannaka
We show you
alladhī
that which
waʿadnāhum
We have promised them
fa-innā
then indeed, We
ʿalayhim
over them
muq'tadirūna
have full power
۝٤٢
Or whether [or not] We show you that which We have promised them, indeed, We are Perfect in Ability.
fa-is'tamsik
So hold fast
bi-alladhī
to that which
ūḥiya
is revealed
ilayka
to you
innaka
Indeed, you
ʿalā
(are) on
ṣirāṭin
a Path
mus'taqīmin
Straight
۝٤٣
So adhere to that which is revealed to you. Indeed, you are on a straight path.
wa-innahu
And indeed, it
ladhik'run
(is) surely, a Reminder
laka
for you
waliqawmika
and your people
wasawfa
and soon
tus'alūna
you will be questioned
۝٤٤
And indeed, it is a remembrance for you and your people, and you [all] are going to be questioned.
wasal
And ask
man
(those) whom
arsalnā
We sent
min
before you
qablika
before you
min
of
rusulinā
Our Messengers
ajaʿalnā
did We make
min
besides
dūni
besides
l-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious
ālihatan
gods
yuʿ'badūna
to be worshipped
۝٤٥
And ask those We sent before you of Our messengers; have We made besides the Most Merciful deities to be worshipped?
walaqad
And certainly
arsalnā
We sent
mūsā
Musa
biāyātinā
with Our Signs
ilā
to
fir'ʿawna
Firaun
wamala-ihi
and his chiefs
faqāla
and he said
innī
Indeed, I am
rasūlu
a Messenger
rabbi
(of the) Lord
l-ʿālamīna
(of) the worlds
۝٤٦
And certainly did We send Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his establishment, and he said, "Indeed, I am the messenger of the Lord of the worlds."
falammā
But when
jāahum
he came to them
biāyātinā
with Our Signs
idhā
behold
hum
They
min'hā
at them
yaḍḥakūna
laughed
۝٤٧
But when he brought them Our signs, at once they laughed at them.
wamā
And not
nurīhim
We showed them
min
of
āyatin
a Sign
illā
but
hiya
it
akbaru
(was) greater
min
than
ukh'tihā
its sister
wa-akhadhnāhum
and We seized them
bil-ʿadhābi
with the punishment
laʿallahum
so that they may
yarjiʿūna
return
۝٤٨
And We showed them not a sign except that it was greater than its sister, and We seized them with affliction that perhaps they might return [to faith].
waqālū
And they said
yāayyuha
O
l-sāḥiru
[the] magician
ud'ʿu
Invoke
lanā
for us
rabbaka
your Lord
bimā
by what
ʿahida
He has made covenant
ʿindaka
with you
innanā
Indeed, we
lamuh'tadūna
(will) surely be guided
۝٤٩
And they said [to Moses], "O magician, invoke for us your Lord by what He has promised you. Indeed, we will be guided."
falammā
But when
kashafnā
We removed
ʿanhumu
from them
l-ʿadhāba
the punishment
idhā
behold
hum
They
yankuthūna
broke (their word)
۝٥٠
But when We removed from them the affliction, at once they broke their word.
wanādā
And called out
fir'ʿawnu
Firaun
fī
among
qawmihi
his people
qāla
he said
yāqawmi
O my people
alaysa
Is not
lī
for me
mul'ku
(the) kingdom
miṣ'ra
(of) Egypt
wahādhihi
and these
l-anhāru
[the] rivers
tajrī
flowing
min
underneath me
taḥtī
underneath me
afalā
Then do not
tub'ṣirūna
you see
۝٥١
And Pharaoh called out among his people; he said, "O my people, does not the kingdom of Egypt belong to me, and these rivers flowing beneath me; then do you not see?
am
Or
anā
am I
khayrun
better
min
than
hādhā
this
alladhī
one who
huwa
he
mahīnun
(is) insignificant
walā
and hardly
yakādu
and hardly
yubīnu
clear
۝٥٢
Or am I [not] better than this one [i.e., Moses] who is insignificant and hardly makes himself clear?
falawlā
Then why not
ul'qiya
are placed
ʿalayhi
on him
aswiratun
bracelets
min
of
dhahabin
gold
aw
or
jāa
come
maʿahu
with him
l-malāikatu
the Angels
muq'tarinīna
accompanying (him)
۝٥٣
Then why have there not been placed upon him bracelets of gold or come with him the angels in conjunction?"
fa-is'takhaffa
So he bluffed
qawmahu
his people
fa-aṭāʿūhu
and they obeyed him
innahum
Indeed, they
kānū
were
qawman
a people
fāsiqīna
defiantly disobedient
۝٥٤
So he bluffed his people, and they obeyed him. Indeed, they were [themselves] a people defiantly disobedient [of Allāh].
falammā
So when
āsafūnā
they angered Us
intaqamnā
We took retribution
min'hum
from them
fa-aghraqnāhum
and We drowned them
ajmaʿīna
all
۝٥٥
And when they angered Us, We took retribution from them and drowned them all.
fajaʿalnāhum
And We made them
salafan
a precedent
wamathalan
and an example
lil'ākhirīna
for the later (generations)
۝٥٦
And We made them a precedent and an example for the later peoples.
walammā
And when
ḍuriba
is presented
ub'nu
(the) son
maryama
(of) Maryam
mathalan
(as) an example
idhā
behold
qawmuka
Your people
min'hu
about it
yaṣiddūna
laughed aloud
۝٥٧
And when the son of Mary was presented as an example, immediately your people laughed aloud.
waqālū
And they said
aālihatunā
Are our gods
khayrun
better
am
or
huwa
he
mā
Not
ḍarabūhu
they present it
laka
to you
illā
except
jadalan
(for) argument
bal
Nay
hum
they
qawmun
(are) a people
khaṣimūna
argumentative
۝٥٨
And they said, "Are our gods better, or is he?" They did not present it [i.e., the comparison] except for [mere] argument. But, [in fact], they are a people prone to dispute.
in
Not
huwa
he
illā
(was) except
ʿabdun
a slave
anʿamnā
We bestowed Our favor
ʿalayhi
on him
wajaʿalnāhu
and We made him
mathalan
an example
libanī
for (the) Children of Israel
is'rāīla
for (the) Children of Israel
۝٥٩
He [i.e., Jesus] was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel.
walaw
And if
nashāu
We willed
lajaʿalnā
surely We (could have) made
minkum
among you
malāikatan
Angels
fī
in
l-arḍi
the earth
yakhlufūna
succeeding
۝٦٠
And if We willed, We could have made [instead] of you angels succeeding [one another] on the earth.
wa-innahu
And indeed, it
laʿil'mun
surely (is) a knowledge
lilssāʿati
of the Hour
falā
So (do) not
tamtarunna
(be) doubtful
bihā
about it
wa-ittabiʿūni
and follow Me
hādhā
This
ṣirāṭun
(is the) Path
mus'taqīmun
Straight
۝٦١
And indeed, he [i.e., Jesus] will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour, so be not in doubt of it, and follow Me. This is a straight path.
walā
And (let) not
yaṣuddannakumu
avert you
l-shayṭānu
the Shaitaan
innahu
Indeed, he
lakum
(is) for you
ʿaduwwun
an enemy
mubīnun
clear
۝٦٢
And never let Satan avert you. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.
walammā
And when
jāa
came
ʿīsā
Isa
bil-bayināti
with clear proofs
qāla
he said
qad
Verily
ji'tukum
I have come to you
bil-ḥik'mati
with wisdom
wali-ubayyina
and that I make clear
lakum
to you
baʿḍa
some
alladhī
(of) that which
takhtalifūna
you differ
fīhi
in it
fa-ittaqū
So fear
l-laha
Allah
wa-aṭīʿūni
and obey me
۝٦٣
And when Jesus brought clear proofs, he said, "I have come to you with wisdom [i.e., prophethood] and to make clear to you some of that over which you differ, so fear Allāh and obey me.
inna
Indeed
l-laha
Allah
huwa
He
rabbī
(is) my Lord
warabbukum
and your Lord
fa-uʿ'budūhu
so worship Him
hādhā
This
ṣirāṭun
(is) a Path
mus'taqīmun
Straight
۝٦٤
Indeed, Allāh is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is a straight path."
fa-ikh'talafa
But differed
l-aḥzābu
the factions
min
from
baynihim
among them
fawaylun
so woe
lilladhīna
to those who
ẓalamū
wronged
min
from
ʿadhābi
(the) punishment
yawmin
(of the) Day
alīmin
painful
۝٦٥
But the denominations from among them differed [and separated], so woe to those who have wronged from the punishment of a painful Day.
hal
Are
yanẓurūna
they waiting
illā
except
l-sāʿata
(for) the Hour
an
that
tatiyahum
it should come on them
baghtatan
suddenly
wahum
while they
lā
(do) not
yashʿurūna
perceive
۝٦٦
Are they waiting except for the Hour to come upon them suddenly while they perceive not?
al-akhilāu
Friends
yawma-idhin
that Day
baʿḍuhum
some of them
libaʿḍin
to others
ʿaduwwun
(will be) enemies
illā
except
l-mutaqīna
the righteous
۝٦٧
Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous
yāʿibādi
O My slaves
lā
No
khawfun
fear
ʿalaykumu
on you
l-yawma
this Day
walā
and not
antum
you
taḥzanūna
will grieve
۝٦٨
[To whom Allāh will say], "O My servants, no fear will there be concerning you this Day, nor will you grieve,
alladhīna
Those who
āmanū
believed
biāyātinā
in Our Verses
wakānū
and were
mus'limīna
submissive
۝٦٩
[You] who believed in Our verses and were Muslims.
ud'khulū
Enter
l-janata
Paradise
antum
you
wa-azwājukum
and your spouses
tuḥ'barūna
delighted
۝٧٠
Enter Paradise, you and your kinds, delighted."
yuṭāfu
Will be circulated
ʿalayhim
for them
biṣiḥāfin
plates
min
of
dhahabin
gold
wa-akwābin
and cups
wafīhā
And therein
mā
(is) what
tashtahīhi
desires
l-anfusu
the souls
wataladhu
and delights
l-aʿyunu
the eyes
wa-antum
and you
fīhā
therein
khālidūna
will abide forever
۝٧١
Circulated among them will be plates and vessels of gold. And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide therein eternally.
watil'ka
And this
l-janatu
(is) the Paradise
allatī
which
ūrith'tumūhā
you are made to inherit
bimā
for what
kuntum
you used to
taʿmalūna
do
۝٧٢
And that is Paradise which you are made to inherit for what you used to do.
lakum
For you
fīhā
therein
fākihatun
(are) fruits
kathīratun
abundant
min'hā
from it
takulūna
you will eat
۝٧٣
For you therein is much fruit from which you will eat.
inna
Indeed
l-muj'rimīna
the criminals
fī
(will be) in
ʿadhābi
(the) punishment
jahannama
(of) Hell
khālidūna
abiding forever
۝٧٤
Indeed, the criminals will be in the punishment of Hell, abiding eternally.
lā
Not
yufattaru
will it subside
ʿanhum
for them
wahum
and they
fīhi
in it
mub'lisūna
(will) despair
۝٧٥
It will not be allowed to subside for them, and they, therein, are in despair.
wamā
And not
ẓalamnāhum
We wronged them
walākin
but
kānū
they were
humu
themselves
l-ẓālimīna
wrongdoers
۝٧٦
And We did not wrong them, but it was they who were the wrongdoers.
wanādaw
And they will call
yāmāliku
O Malik
liyaqḍi
Let put an end
ʿalaynā
to us
rabbuka
your Lord
qāla
He (will) say
innakum
Indeed, you
mākithūna
(will) remain
۝٧٧
And they will call, "O Mālik, let your Lord put an end to us!" He will say, "Indeed, you will remain."
laqad
Certainly
ji'nākum
We have brought you
bil-ḥaqi
the truth
walākinna
but
aktharakum
most of you
lil'ḥaqqi
to the truth
kārihūna
(are) averse
۝٧٨
We had certainly brought you the truth, but most of you, to the truth, were averse.
am
Or
abramū
have they determined
amran
an affair
fa-innā
Then indeed, We
mub'rimūna
(are) determined
۝٧٩
Or have they devised [some] affair? But indeed, We are devising [a plan].
am
Or
yaḥsabūna
(do) they think
annā
that We
lā
(can) not
nasmaʿu
hear
sirrahum
their secret(s)
wanajwāhum
and their private counsel(s)
balā
Nay
warusulunā
and Our Messengers
ladayhim
with them
yaktubūna
are recording
۝٨٠
Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private conversations? Yes, [We do], and Our messengers [i.e., angels] are with them recording.
qul
Say
in
If
kāna
had
lilrraḥmāni
the Most Gracious
waladun
a son
fa-anā
Then, I
awwalu
(would be the) first
l-ʿābidīna
(of) the worshippers
۝٨١
Say, [O Muḥammad], "If the Most Merciful had a son, then I would be the first of [his] worshippers."
sub'ḥāna
Glory be
rabbi
(to the) Lord
l-samāwāti
(of) the heavens
wal-arḍi
and the earth
rabbi
(the) Lord
l-ʿarshi
(of) the Throne
ʿammā
above what
yaṣifūna
they ascribe
۝٨٢
Exalted is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe.
fadharhum
So leave them
yakhūḍū
(to) converse vainly
wayalʿabū
and play
ḥattā
until
yulāqū
they meet
yawmahumu
their Day
alladhī
which
yūʿadūna
they are promised
۝٨٣
So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised.
wahuwa
And He
alladhī
(is) the One Who
fī
(is) in
l-samāi
the heaven
ilāhun
God
wafī
and in
l-arḍi
the earth
ilāhun
God
wahuwa
And He
l-ḥakīmu
(is) the All-Wise
l-ʿalīmu
the All-Knower
۝٨٤
And it is He [i.e., Allāh] who is [the only] deity in the heaven, and on the earth [the only] deity. And He is the Wise, the Knowing.
watabāraka
And blessed (is)
alladhī
the One Who
lahu
to Whom
mul'ku
(belongs the) dominion
l-samāwāti
(of) the heavens
wal-arḍi
and the earth
wamā
and whatever
baynahumā
(is) between both of them
waʿindahu
and with Him
ʿil'mu
(is the) knowledge
l-sāʿati
(of) the Hour
wa-ilayhi
and to Him
tur'jaʿūna
you will be returned
۝٨٥
And blessed is He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them and with whom is knowledge of the Hour and to whom you will be returned.
walā
And not
yamliku
have power
alladhīna
those whom
yadʿūna
they invoke
min
besides Him
dūnihi
besides Him
l-shafāʿata
(for) the intercession
illā
except
man
who
shahida
testifies
bil-ḥaqi
to the truth
wahum
and they
yaʿlamūna
know
۝٨٦
And those they invoke besides Him do not possess [power of] intercession; but only those who testify to the truth [can benefit], and they know.
wala-in
And if
sa-altahum
you ask them
man
who
khalaqahum
created them
layaqūlunna
they will certainly say
l-lahu
Allah
fa-annā
Then how
yu'fakūna
are they deluded
۝٨٧
And if you asked them who created them, they would surely say, "Allāh." So how are they deluded?
waqīlihi
And his saying
yārabbi
O my Lord
inna
Indeed
hāulāi
these
qawmun
(are) a people
lā
(who do) not
yu'minūna
believe
۝٨٨
And [Allāh acknowledges] his saying, "O my Lord, indeed these are a people who do not believe."
fa-iṣ'faḥ
So turn away
ʿanhum
from them
waqul
and say
salāmun
Peace
fasawfa
But soon
yaʿlamūna
they will know
۝٨٩
So turn aside from them and say, "Peace." But they are going to know.
