قُلْqul Sayأُوحِىَūḥiya It has been revealedإِلَىَّilayya to meأَنَّهُannahu thatٱسْتَمَعَis'tamaʿa listenedنَفَرٌۭnafarun a groupمِّنَmina ofٱلْجِنِّl-jini the jinnفَقَالُوٓا۟faqālū and they saidإِنَّاinnā Indeed, weسَمِعْنَاsamiʿ'nā heardقُرْءَانًاqur'ānan a Quranعَجَبًۭاʿajaban amazing١
Dis : "Il m’a été révélé qu’un groupe de djinns prêtèrent l’oreille, puis dirent : "Nous avons certes entendu une Lecture [le Coran] merveilleuse,
يَهْدِىٓyahdī It guidesإِلَىilā toٱلرُّشْدِl-rush'di the right wayفَـَٔامَنَّاfaāmannā so we believeبِهِۦ ۖbihi in itوَلَنwalan and neverنُّشْرِكَnush'rika we will associateبِرَبِّنَآbirabbinā with our Lordأَحَدًۭاaḥadan anyone٢
qui guide vers la droiture. Nous y avons cru, et nous n’associerons jamais personne à notre Seigneur.
وَأَنَّهُۥwa-annahu And that He تَعَـٰلَىٰtaʿālā Exalted isجَدُّjaddu (the) Majestyرَبِّنَاrabbinā (of) our Lord مَاmā notٱتَّخَذَittakhadha He has takenصَـٰحِبَةًۭṣāḥibatan a wifeوَلَاwalā and notوَلَدًۭاwaladan a son٣
En vérité notre Seigneur - que Sa grandeur soit exaltée - ne S’est donné ni compagne, ni enfant !
وَأَنَّهُۥwa-annahu And that heكَانَkāna used toيَقُولُyaqūlu speak سَفِيهُنَاsafīhunā the foolish among usعَلَىʿalā againstٱللَّهِl-lahi Allahشَطَطًۭاshaṭaṭan an excessive transgression٤
Notre insensé [Iblîs] disait des extravagances contre Allah.
وَأَنَّاwa-annā And that weظَنَنَّآẓanannā thoughtأَنan thatلَّنlan neverتَقُولَtaqūla will sayٱلْإِنسُl-insu the menوَٱلْجِنُّwal-jinu and the jinnعَلَىʿalā againstٱللَّهِl-lahi Allahكَذِبًۭاkadhiban any lie٥
Et nous pensions que ni les humains ni les djinns ne sauraient jamais proférer de mensonge contre Allah.
وَأَنَّهُۥwa-annahu And thatكَانَkāna (there) wereرِجَالٌۭrijālun menمِّنَmina amongٱلْإِنسِl-insi mankindيَعُوذُونَyaʿūdhūna who sought refugeبِرِجَالٍۢbirijālin in (the) menمِّنَmina fromٱلْجِنِّl-jini the jinnفَزَادُوهُمْfazādūhum so they increased themرَهَقًۭاrahaqan (in) burden٦
Or, il y avait parmi les humains, des hommes qui cherchaient protection auprès des hommes parmi les djinns mais cela ne fît qu’accroître leur détresse.
وَأَنَّهُمْwa-annahum And that theyظَنُّوا۟ẓannū thoughtكَمَاkamā asظَنَنتُمْẓanantum you thoughtأَنan thatلَّنlan neverيَبْعَثَyabʿatha will raiseٱللَّهُl-lahu Allahأَحَدًۭاaḥadan anyone٧
Et ils avaient pensé comme vous avez pensé qu’Allah ne ressusciterait jamais personne.
وَأَنَّاwa-annā And that weلَمَسْنَاlamasnā sought to touchٱلسَّمَآءَl-samāa the heavenفَوَجَدْنَـٰهَاfawajadnāhā but we found itمُلِئَتْmuli-at filled (with)حَرَسًۭاḥarasan guardsشَدِيدًۭاshadīdan severeوَشُهُبًۭاwashuhuban and flaming fires٨
Nous avions frôlé le ciel et Nous l’avions trouvé plein d’une forte garde et de bolides.
وَأَنَّاwa-annā And that weكُنَّاkunnā used toنَقْعُدُnaqʿudu sitمِنْهَاmin'hā there inمَقَـٰعِدَmaqāʿida positionsلِلسَّمْعِ ۖlilssamʿi for hearingفَمَنfaman but (he) whoيَسْتَمِعِyastamiʿi listensٱلْـَٔانَl-āna nowيَجِدْyajid will findلَهُۥlahu for himشِهَابًۭاshihāban a flaming fireرَّصَدًۭاraṣadan waiting٩
Nous y prenions place pour écouter. Mais quiconque prête l’oreille maintenant, trouve contre lui un bolide aux aguets.
وَأَنَّاwa-annā And that we لَاlā notنَدْرِىٓnadrī we knowأَشَرٌّasharrun whether evilأُرِيدَurīda is intendedبِمَنbiman for (those) whoفِىfī (are) inٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍi the earthأَمْam orأَرَادَarāda intendsبِهِمْbihim for themرَبُّهُمْrabbuhum their Lordرَشَدًۭاrashadan a right path١٠
Nous ne savons pas si on veut du mal aux habitants de la terre ou si leur Seigneur veut les mettre sur le droit chemin.
وَأَنَّاwa-annā And that [we]مِنَّاminnā among usٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَl-ṣāliḥūna (are) the righteousوَمِنَّاwaminnā and among usدُونَdūna (are) other thanذَٰلِكَ ۖdhālika thatكُنَّاkunnā Weطَرَآئِقَṭarāiqa (are on) waysقِدَدًۭاqidadan different١١
Il y a parmi nous des vertueux et [d’autre] qui le sont moins: nous étions divisés en différentes sectes.
وَأَنَّاwa-annā And that weظَنَنَّآẓanannā [we] have become certainأَنan thatلَّنlan neverنُّعْجِزَnuʿ'jiza we will cause failureٱللَّهَl-laha (to) Allahفِىfī inٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍi the earthوَلَنwalan and neverنُّعْجِزَهُۥnuʿ'jizahu we can escape Himهَرَبًۭاharaban (by) flight١٢
Nous pensions bien que nous ne saurions jamais réduire Allah à l’impuissance sur la terre et que nous ne saurions jamais le réduire à l’impuissance en nous enfuyant.
وَأَنَّاwa-annā And that [we]لَمَّاlammā whenسَمِعْنَاsamiʿ'nā we heardٱلْهُدَىٰٓl-hudā the Guidanceءَامَنَّاāmannā we believedبِهِۦ ۖbihi in itفَمَنfaman And whoeverيُؤْمِنۢyu'min believesبِرَبِّهِۦbirabbihi in his Lordفَلَاfalā then notيَخَافُyakhāfu he will fearبَخْسًۭاbakhsan any lossوَلَاwalā and notرَهَقًۭاrahaqan any burden١٣
Et lorsque nous avons entendu le guide [le Coran], nous y avons cru, et quiconque croit en son Seigneur ne craint alors ni diminution de récompense ni oppression.
وَأَنَّاwa-annā And that weمِنَّاminnā among usٱلْمُسْلِمُونَl-mus'limūna (are) Muslimsوَمِنَّاwaminnā and among usٱلْقَـٰسِطُونَ ۖl-qāsiṭūna (are) unjustفَمَنْfaman And whoeverأَسْلَمَaslama submitsفَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَfa-ulāika then thoseتَحَرَّوْا۟taḥarraw have soughtرَشَدًۭاrashadan (the) right path١٤
Il y a parmi nous les Musulmans, et il y en a les injustes [qui ont dévié]. Et ceux qui se sont convertis à l’Islam sont ceux qui ont cherché la droiture.
وَأَلَّوِwa-allawi And that ifٱسْتَقَـٰمُوا۟is'taqāmū they had remainedعَلَىʿalā onٱلطَّرِيقَةِl-ṭarīqati the Wayلَأَسْقَيْنَـٰهُمla-asqaynāhum surely We (would) have given them to drinkمَّآءًmāan waterغَدَقًۭاghadaqan (in) abundance١٦
Et s’ils se maintenaient dans la bonne direction, Nous les aurions abreuvés, certes d’une eau abondante,
لِّنَفْتِنَهُمْlinaftinahum That We might test themفِيهِ ۚfīhi thereinوَمَنwaman And whoeverيُعْرِضْyuʿ'riḍ turns awayعَنʿan fromذِكْرِdhik'ri the Remembranceرَبِّهِۦrabbihi (of) his Lordيَسْلُكْهُyasluk'hu He will make him enterعَذَابًۭاʿadhāban a punishmentصَعَدًۭاṣaʿadan severe١٧
afin de les y éprouver. Et quiconque se détourne du rappel de son Seigneur, Il l’achemine vers un châtiment sans cesse croissant.
وَأَنَّwa-anna And thatٱلْمَسَـٰجِدَl-masājida the masjidsلِلَّهِlillahi (are) for Allahفَلَاfalā so (do) notتَدْعُوا۟tadʿū callمَعَmaʿa withٱللَّهِl-lahi Allahأَحَدًۭاaḥadan anyone١٨
Les mosquées sont consacrées à Allah: n’invoquez donc personne avec Allah.
قُلْqul Sayإِنَّمَآinnamā Onlyأَدْعُوا۟adʿū I call uponرَبِّىrabbī my Lordوَلَآwalā and notأُشْرِكُush'riku I associateبِهِۦٓbihi with Himأَحَدًۭاaḥadan anyone٢٠
Dis : "Je n’invoque que mon Seigneur et ne Lui associe personne."
قُلْqul Sayإِنِّىinnī Indeed, Iلَآlā (do) notأَمْلِكُamliku possessلَكُمْlakum for youضَرًّۭاḍarran any harmوَلَاwalā and notرَشَدًۭاrashadan right path٢١
Dis : "Je ne possède aucun moyen pour vous faire du mal, ni pour vous mettre sur le chemin droit."
قُلْqul Sayإِنِّىinnī Indeed Iلَنlan neverيُجِيرَنِىyujīranī can protect meمِنَmina fromٱللَّهِl-lahi Allahأَحَدٌۭaḥadun anyoneوَلَنْwalan and neverأَجِدَajida can I findمِنmin fromدُونِهِۦdūnihi besides Himمُلْتَحَدًاmul'taḥadan any refuge٢٢
Dis : "Vraiment, personne ne saura me protéger contre Allah ; et jamais je ne trouverai de refuge en dehors de Lui.
إِلَّاillā Butبَلَـٰغًۭاbalāghan (the) notificationمِّنَmina fromٱللَّهِl-lahi Allahوَرِسَـٰلَـٰتِهِۦ ۚwarisālātihi and His Messagesوَمَنwaman And whoeverيَعْصِyaʿṣi disobeysٱللَّهَl-laha Allahوَرَسُولَهُۥwarasūlahu and His Messengerفَإِنَّfa-inna then indeedلَهُۥlahu for himنَارَnāra (is the) Fireجَهَنَّمَjahannama (of) Hellخَـٰلِدِينَkhālidīna (they will) abideفِيهَآfīhā thereinأَبَدًاabadan forever٢٣
[Je ne puis que transmettre] une communication et des messages [émanant] d’Allah. Et quiconque désobéit à Allah et à son Messager aura le feu de l’Enfer pour y demeurer éternellement.
حَتَّىٰٓḥattā Untilإِذَاidhā whenرَأَوْا۟ra-aw they seeمَاmā whatيُوعَدُونَyūʿadūna they are promisedفَسَيَعْلَمُونَfasayaʿlamūna then they will knowمَنْman whoأَضْعَفُaḍʿafu (is) weakerنَاصِرًۭاnāṣiran (in) helpersوَأَقَلُّwa-aqallu and fewerعَدَدًۭاʿadadan (in) number٢٤
Puis, quand ils verront ce dont on les menaçait, ils sauront lesquels ont les secours les plus faibles et [lesquels] sont les moins nombreux.
قُلْqul Sayإِنْin Notأَدْرِىٓadrī I knowأَقَرِيبٌۭaqarībun whether is nearمَّاmā whatتُوعَدُونَtūʿadūna you are promisedأَمْam or (whether)يَجْعَلُyajʿalu will appointلَهُۥlahu for itرَبِّىٓrabbī my Lordأَمَدًاamadan a (distant) term٢٥
Dis : "Je ne sais pas si ce dont vous êtes menacés est proche, ou bien, si mon Seigneur va lui assigner un délai.
عَـٰلِمُʿālimu (The) All-Knowerٱلْغَيْبِl-ghaybi (of) the unseenفَلَاfalā so notيُظْهِرُyuẓ'hiru He revealsعَلَىٰʿalā fromغَيْبِهِۦٓghaybihi His unseenأَحَدًاaḥadan (to) anyone٢٦
[C’est Lui] qui connaît le mystère. Il ne dévoile Son mystère à personne,
إِلَّاillā Exceptمَنِmani whomٱرْتَضَىٰir'taḍā He has approvedمِنmin ofرَّسُولٍۢrasūlin a Messengerفَإِنَّهُۥfa-innahu and indeed, Heيَسْلُكُyasluku makes to marchمِنۢmin fromبَيْنِbayni beforeيَدَيْهِyadayhi himوَمِنْwamin and fromخَلْفِهِۦkhalfihi behind himرَصَدًۭاraṣadan a guard٢٧
sauf à celui qu’Il agrée comme Messager et qu’Il fait précéder et suivre de gardiens vigilants,
لِّيَعْلَمَliyaʿlama That He may make evidentأَنan thatقَدْqad indeedأَبْلَغُوا۟ablaghū they have conveyedرِسَـٰلَـٰتِrisālāti (the) Messagesرَبِّهِمْrabbihim (of) their Lordوَأَحَاطَwa-aḥāṭa and He has encompassedبِمَاbimā whatلَدَيْهِمْladayhim (is) with themوَأَحْصَىٰwa-aḥṣā and He takes accountكُلَّkulla (of) allشَىْءٍshayin thingsعَدَدًۢاʿadadan (in) number٢٨
afin qu’Il sache s’ils ont bien transmis les messages de leur Seigneur. Il cerne (de Son savoir) ce qui est avec eux, et dénombre exactement toute chose."
