بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
وَلَيَالٍwalayālin
And the nights عَشْرٍۢʿashrin
ten ٢
And the nights عَشْرٍۢʿashrin
ten ٢
et par les dix nuits !
وَٱلشَّفْعِwal-shafʿi
And the even وَٱلْوَتْرِwal-watri
and the odd ٣
And the even وَٱلْوَتْرِwal-watri
and the odd ٣
Par le pair et l’impair !
وَٱلَّيْلِwa-al-layli
And the night إِذَاidhā
when يَسْرِyasri
it passes ٤
And the night إِذَاidhā
when يَسْرِyasri
it passes ٤
Et par la nuit quand elle s’écoule !
هَلْhal
Is فِىfī
in ذَٰلِكَdhālika
that قَسَمٌۭqasamun
(not) an oath لِّذِىlidhī
for those حِجْرٍḥij'rin
who understand ٥
Is فِىfī
in ذَٰلِكَdhālika
that قَسَمٌۭqasamun
(not) an oath لِّذِىlidhī
for those حِجْرٍḥij'rin
who understand ٥
N’est-ce pas là un serment, pour un doué d’intelligence ?
أَلَمْalam
Did not تَرَtara
you see كَيْفَkayfa
how فَعَلَfaʿala
dealt رَبُّكَrabbuka
your Lord بِعَادٍbiʿādin
with Aad ٦
Did not تَرَtara
you see كَيْفَkayfa
how فَعَلَfaʿala
dealt رَبُّكَrabbuka
your Lord بِعَادٍbiʿādin
with Aad ٦
N’as-tu pas vu comment ton Seigneur a agi avec les 'Âd.
إِرَمَirama
Iram ذَاتِdhāti
possessors (of) ٱلْعِمَادِl-ʿimādi
lofty pillars ٧
Iram ذَاتِdhāti
possessors (of) ٱلْعِمَادِl-ʿimādi
lofty pillars ٧
[avec] Iram , [la cité] à la colonne remarquable,
ٱلَّتِىallatī
Which لَمْlam
not يُخْلَقْyukh'laq
had been created مِثْلُهَاmith'luhā
like them فِىfī
in ٱلْبِلَـٰدِl-bilādi
the cities ٨
Which لَمْlam
not يُخْلَقْyukh'laq
had been created مِثْلُهَاmith'luhā
like them فِىfī
in ٱلْبِلَـٰدِl-bilādi
the cities ٨
dont jamais pareille ne fut construite parmi les villes ?
وَثَمُودَwathamūda
And Thamud ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna
who جَابُوا۟jābū
carved out ٱلصَّخْرَl-ṣakhra
the rocks بِٱلْوَادِbil-wādi
in the valley ٩
And Thamud ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna
who جَابُوا۟jābū
carved out ٱلصَّخْرَl-ṣakhra
the rocks بِٱلْوَادِbil-wādi
in the valley ٩
et avec les Thamûd qui taillaient le rocher dans la vallée ?
وَفِرْعَوْنَwafir'ʿawna
And Firaun ذِىdhī
owner of ٱلْأَوْتَادِl-awtādi
stakes ١٠
And Firaun ذِىdhī
owner of ٱلْأَوْتَادِl-awtādi
stakes ١٠
ainsi qu’avec Pharaon, l’homme aux épieux ?
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna
Who طَغَوْا۟ṭaghaw
transgressed فِىfī
in ٱلْبِلَـٰدِl-bilādi
the lands ١١
Who طَغَوْا۟ṭaghaw
transgressed فِىfī
in ٱلْبِلَـٰدِl-bilādi
the lands ١١
Tous, étaient des gens qui transgressaient dans [leurs] pays,
فَأَكْثَرُوا۟fa-aktharū
And (made) much فِيهَاfīhā
therein ٱلْفَسَادَl-fasāda
corruption ١٢
And (made) much فِيهَاfīhā
therein ٱلْفَسَادَl-fasāda
corruption ١٢
et y avaient commis beaucoup de désordre.
فَصَبَّfaṣabba
So poured عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhim
on them رَبُّكَrabbuka
your Lord سَوْطَsawṭa
scourge عَذَابٍʿadhābin
(of) punishment ١٣
So poured عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhim
on them رَبُّكَrabbuka
your Lord سَوْطَsawṭa
scourge عَذَابٍʿadhābin
(of) punishment ١٣
Donc, ton Seigneur déversa sur eux un fouet du châtiment.
إِنَّinna
Indeed رَبَّكَrabbaka
your Lord لَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِlabil-mir'ṣādi
(is) surely Ever Watchful ١٤
Indeed رَبَّكَrabbaka
your Lord لَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِlabil-mir'ṣādi
(is) surely Ever Watchful ١٤
Car ton Seigneur demeure aux aguets.
فَأَمَّاfa-ammā
And as for ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُl-insānu
man إِذَاidhā
when مَاmā
does ٱبْتَلَىٰهُib'talāhu
try him رَبُّهُۥrabbuhu
his Lord فَأَكْرَمَهُۥfa-akramahu
and is generous to him وَنَعَّمَهُۥwanaʿʿamahu
and favors him فَيَقُولُfayaqūlu
he says رَبِّىٓrabbī
My Lord أَكْرَمَنِakramani
has honored me ١٥
And as for ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُl-insānu
man إِذَاidhā
when مَاmā
does ٱبْتَلَىٰهُib'talāhu
try him رَبُّهُۥrabbuhu
his Lord فَأَكْرَمَهُۥfa-akramahu
and is generous to him وَنَعَّمَهُۥwanaʿʿamahu
and favors him فَيَقُولُfayaqūlu
he says رَبِّىٓrabbī
My Lord أَكْرَمَنِakramani
has honored me ١٥
Quant à l’homme, lorsque son Seigneur l’éprouve en l’honorant et en le comblant de bienfaits, il dit : "Mon Seigneur m’a honoré."
وَأَمَّآwa-ammā
But إِذَاidhā
when مَاmā
does ٱبْتَلَىٰهُib'talāhu
He try him فَقَدَرَfaqadara
and restricts عَلَيْهِʿalayhi
for him رِزْقَهُۥriz'qahu
his provision فَيَقُولُfayaqūlu
then he says رَبِّىٓrabbī
My Lord أَهَـٰنَنِahānani
(has) humiliated me ١٦
But إِذَاidhā

does ٱبْتَلَىٰهُib'talāhu
He try him فَقَدَرَfaqadara

for him رِزْقَهُۥriz'qahu

My Lord أَهَـٰنَنِahānani

Mais par contre, quand Il l’éprouve en lui restreignant sa subsistance, il dit : "Mon Seigneur m’a avili."
كَلَّا ۖkallā
Nay بَلbal
But لَّاlā
not تُكْرِمُونَtuk'rimūna
you honor ٱلْيَتِيمَl-yatīma
the orphan ١٧
Nay بَلbal
But لَّاlā
not تُكْرِمُونَtuk'rimūna
you honor ٱلْيَتِيمَl-yatīma
the orphan ١٧
Mais non ! C’est vous plutôt, qui n’êtes pas généreux envers les orphelins ;
وَلَاwalā
And not تَحَـٰٓضُّونَtaḥāḍḍūna
you feel the urge عَلَىٰʿalā
to طَعَامِṭaʿāmi
feed ٱلْمِسْكِينِl-mis'kīni
the poor ١٨
And not تَحَـٰٓضُّونَtaḥāḍḍūna
you feel the urge عَلَىٰʿalā
to طَعَامِṭaʿāmi
feed ٱلْمِسْكِينِl-mis'kīni
the poor ١٨
qui ne vous incitez pas mutuellement à nourrir le pauvre,
وَتَأْكُلُونَwatakulūna
And you consume ٱلتُّرَاثَl-turātha
the inheritance أَكْلًۭاaklan
devouring لَّمًّۭاlamman
altogether ١٩
And you consume ٱلتُّرَاثَl-turātha
the inheritance أَكْلًۭاaklan
devouring لَّمًّۭاlamman
altogether ١٩
qui dévorez l’héritage avec une avidité vorace,
وَتُحِبُّونَwatuḥibbūna
And you love ٱلْمَالَl-māla
wealth حُبًّۭاḥubban
(with) love جَمًّۭاjamman
immense ٢٠
And you love ٱلْمَالَl-māla
wealth حُبًّۭاḥubban
(with) love جَمًّۭاjamman
immense ٢٠
et aimez les richesses d’un amour sans bornes.
كَلَّآkallā
Nay إِذَاidhā
When دُكَّتِdukkati
is leveled ٱلْأَرْضُl-arḍu
the earth دَكًّۭاdakkan
pounded دَكًّۭاdakkan
(and) crushed ٢١
Nay إِذَاidhā
When دُكَّتِdukkati
is leveled ٱلْأَرْضُl-arḍu
the earth دَكًّۭاdakkan
pounded دَكًّۭاdakkan
(and) crushed ٢١
Prenez garde ! Quand la terre sera complètement pulvérisée,
وَجَآءَwajāa
And comes رَبُّكَrabbuka
your Lord وَٱلْمَلَكُwal-malaku
and the Angels صَفًّۭاṣaffan
rank صَفًّۭاṣaffan
(upon) rank ٢٢
And comes رَبُّكَrabbuka
your Lord وَٱلْمَلَكُwal-malaku
and the Angels صَفًّۭاṣaffan
rank صَفًّۭاṣaffan
(upon) rank ٢٢
et que ton Seigneur viendra ainsi que les Anges, rang par rang,
وَجِا۟ىٓءَwajīa
And is brought يَوْمَئِذٍۭyawma-idhin
that Day بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚbijahannama
Hell يَوْمَئِذٍۢyawma-idhin
That Day يَتَذَكَّرُyatadhakkaru
will remember ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُl-insānu
man وَأَنَّىٰwa-annā
but how لَهُlahu
(will be) for him ٱلذِّكْرَىٰl-dhik'rā
the remembrance ٢٣
And is brought يَوْمَئِذٍۭyawma-idhin
that Day بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚbijahannama
Hell يَوْمَئِذٍۢyawma-idhin
That Day يَتَذَكَّرُyatadhakkaru
will remember ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُl-insānu
man وَأَنَّىٰwa-annā
but how لَهُlahu
(will be) for him ٱلذِّكْرَىٰl-dhik'rā
the remembrance ٢٣
et que ce jour-là, on amènera l’Enfer ; ce jour-là, l’homme se rappellera. Mais à quoi lui servira de se souvenir ?
يَقُولُyaqūlu
He will say يَـٰلَيْتَنِىyālaytanī
O I wish قَدَّمْتُqaddamtu
I had sent forth لِحَيَاتِىliḥayātī
for my life ٢٤
He will say يَـٰلَيْتَنِىyālaytanī
O I wish قَدَّمْتُqaddamtu
I had sent forth لِحَيَاتِىliḥayātī
for my life ٢٤
Il dira : "Hélas ! Que n’ai-je fais du bien pour ma vie future !
فَيَوْمَئِذٍۢfayawma-idhin
So that Day لَّاlā
not يُعَذِّبُyuʿadhibu
will punish عَذَابَهُۥٓʿadhābahu
(as) His punishment أَحَدٌۭaḥadun
anyone ٢٥
So that Day لَّاlā
not يُعَذِّبُyuʿadhibu
will punish عَذَابَهُۥٓʿadhābahu
(as) His punishment أَحَدٌۭaḥadun
anyone ٢٥
Ce jour-là donc, nul ne saura châtier comme Lui châtie,
وَلَاwalā
And not يُوثِقُyūthiqu
will bind وَثَاقَهُۥٓwathāqahu
(as) His binding أَحَدٌۭaḥadun
anyone ٢٦
And not يُوثِقُyūthiqu
will bind وَثَاقَهُۥٓwathāqahu
(as) His binding أَحَدٌۭaḥadun
anyone ٢٦
et nul ne saura garrotter comme Lui garrotte.
يَـٰٓأَيَّتُهَاyāayyatuhā
O ٱلنَّفْسُl-nafsu
soul ٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُl-muṭ'ma-inatu
who is satisfied ٢٧
O ٱلنَّفْسُl-nafsu
soul ٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُl-muṭ'ma-inatu
who is satisfied ٢٧
"ô toi, âme apaisée,
ٱرْجِعِىٓir'jiʿī
Return إِلَىٰilā
to رَبِّكِrabbiki
your Lord رَاضِيَةًۭrāḍiyatan
well pleased مَّرْضِيَّةًۭmarḍiyyatan
and pleasing ٢٨
Return إِلَىٰilā
to رَبِّكِrabbiki
your Lord رَاضِيَةًۭrāḍiyatan
well pleased مَّرْضِيَّةًۭmarḍiyyatan
and pleasing ٢٨
retourne vers ton Seigneur, satisfaite et agréée ;
فَٱدْخُلِىfa-ud'khulī
So enter فِىfī
among عِبَـٰدِىʿibādī
My slaves ٢٩
So enter فِىfī
among عِبَـٰدِىʿibādī
My slaves ٢٩
entre donc parmi Mes serviteurs,
وَٱدْخُلِىwa-ud'khulī
And enter جَنَّتِىjannatī
My Paradise ٣٠
And enter جَنَّتِىjannatī
My Paradise ٣٠
et entre dans Mon Paradis."
