وَنُرِيدُwanurīdu And We wantedأَنan toنَّمُنَّnamunna bestow a favorعَلَىʿalā uponٱلَّذِينَalladhīna those whoٱسْتُضْعِفُوا۟us'tuḍ'ʿifū were oppressedفِىfī inٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍi the landوَنَجْعَلَهُمْwanajʿalahum and make themأَئِمَّةًۭa-immatan leadersوَنَجْعَلَهُمُwanajʿalahumu and make themٱلْوَٰرِثِينَl-wārithīna the inheritors٥

فَٱلْتَقَطَهُۥٓfal-taqaṭahu Then picked him upءَالُālu (the) familyفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna (of) Firaunلِيَكُونَliyakūna so that he might becomeلَهُمْlahum to themعَدُوًّۭاʿaduwwan an enemyوَحَزَنًا ۗwaḥazanan and a griefإِنَّinna Indeedفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna Firaunوَهَـٰمَـٰنَwahāmāna and Hamanوَجُنُودَهُمَاwajunūdahumā and their hostsكَانُوا۟kānū wereخَـٰطِـِٔينَkhāṭiīna sinners٨

وَقَالَتْwaqālat And she saidلِأُخْتِهِۦli-ukh'tihi to his sisterقُصِّيهِ ۖquṣṣīhi Follow himفَبَصُرَتْfabaṣurat So she watchedبِهِۦbihi himعَنʿan fromجُنُبٍۢjunubin a distanceوَهُمْwahum while theyلَاlā (did) notيَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūna perceive١١

فَرَدَدْنَـٰهُfaradadnāhu So We restored himإِلَىٰٓilā toأُمِّهِۦummihi his motherكَىْkay thatتَقَرَّtaqarra might be comfortedعَيْنُهَاʿaynuhā her eyeوَلَاwalā and notتَحْزَنَtaḥzana she may grieveوَلِتَعْلَمَwalitaʿlama and that she would knowأَنَّanna thatوَعْدَwaʿda the Promise of Allahٱللَّهِl-lahi the Promise of Allahحَقٌّۭḥaqqun (is) trueوَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinna Butأَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahum most of themلَاlā (do) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūna know١٣
